Senior Cup / Barton Shield

    A couple of queries...

Unlike the other Cups & Shields, it seems from the Tournament Conditions on the GUI site (http://www.gui.ie/template1.asp?pid=227&area=7) that you do not need to have played four qualifying rounds (or even have held a handicap) in the previous year. Can this be the case?

Also, we've discussed this before, but it was said that a motion at the GUI AGM was unanimously passed stating all Senior Cup teams must contain a minimum of 3 category one players. However, this does not seem to be in the Tournament conditions.

    Can anyone shed any light?

There is no requirement for qualifying cards fromt he previous year. I think the idea behind it for other competitions is that by playing 4 rounds that your handicap is somewhat fair. where in the senior cup/barton shield handicaps don't matter, they obviously don't see a requirement for it.
