    as the title says really,

Not hard for me although some scenes from buffy angel deserve a nod, but for me its the scene in serenity(i know not the show but bare with me) when Mal turns into a kinda army lad when everyone us disagreeing with him about making the ship look like reavers. Just to me was a big pay off cause he was such a rouge in firefly.

For me it's gotta be in "Angel" when Doyle sacrifices himself to save everyone on the ship - such a heartwrenching scene - always overwhelms me when I watch it.

    Other scenes I really love;

-Finding out Mellie is a doll in "Dollhouse"
-Dr. Saunders realising she is Whiskey in "Dollhouse"
-When Lorne tells Angel, he'll do this one last task for him, but after that he's leaving on "Angel".

Obviously there's great scenes in every single show.. but these scenes from "Angel" and "Dollhouse" stand out in my mind - obviously there are great scenes in "Buffy" and "Firefly" as well.

Oh dear, I don't think I could possibly pick just one.

Perhaps in "Earshot", season 3 of Buffy, in the very last scene where Buffy says to Giles "Sure, we could work-out after school, you know, if you’re not too busy having sex with my mother!" and he walks into a tree.

Or the death scene at the end of season 2.

No, no, I can't do it, it's all too good.

Final moments of Angel, I thought there was a few minutes left in the show... I don't think I've shouted so much at a TV in my life before, but what an ending.

I'd have to say, Firefly, "Out of Gas"" the whole episode.

The last 10 minutes of Buffy episode Becoming. Especially from the point where she has lost her sword and is huddled against the wall as Angel taunts her, telling her she's lost everything and swings a death blow at her, asking her what has she got. Then she stops the sword with her hands, slams the hilt in his face and fights back.

I also love the scene in Bring on the Night where she has been badly defeated by the uber-vamp and comes to the kitchen and talks about how the first is going to swallow her whole, and choke on her. It was a great scene and one the illuminates just how great an actress Sarah Michele Gellar actually is.

    Also the entire musical episode.:D

-Doyle's heroic death, everything was perfect about it. Angel calling out his name while trying to struggle his way to Doyle had tears in my eyes.
-Last act from The Gift, again my manliness was torn a part after Spike breaks down upon seeing Buffy's lifeless body.
-Faith breaking out of prison upon Wesley's visit, absolutely awesome.
-Spike refusing to give up Dawn to Glory and taking a right beating for it.
-Spike putting Xander in his place as to why he was bringing flowers upon Jiyce's death.

    There are so many.:(

Anything from Firefly/Serenity with Jayne in it..absolutely priceless character..

The part in Firefly with the train robbery..(The Train Job) where Nathan kicks Niska henchman into the engine..and then turns around to the next guy and sames him the same deal...:D

Dominic in Dollhouse..a Jayne type character with all the witty lines.

One of my favourite moments is from the BtVS episode 'Selfless' where Buffy and Anya have their fight.

The cut from the 'Once More With Feeling' flashback to a seriously injured Anya is one of those perfect Whedon moments.

    This scene:

My jaw was on the floor at the time. Lindsay's line is so cool also. "How did you think this would end?"

    Firefly: "Safe"

Mal: Well look at this. 'Pears we got here just in the nick of time. What does that make us?
    Zoë: Big damn heroes, sir.
    Mal: Ain't we just.

    Swiftly followed by

Patron: [River is about to be burned at the stake] This is a holy cleansing. You cannot think to thwart God's will.
Mal: Y'all see the man hangin' out of the spaceship with the really big gun? I'm not saying you weren't easy to find, but it was kind of out of our way and he didn't wanna come in the first place. Man's lookin' to kill some folk. So really it's his will y'all should worry about thwarting.
Mal: [to Simon] Gotta say, Doctor, your talent for alienatin' folks is near miraculous.
    Simon: Yes, I'm very proud.
Mal: [about River] Cut her down.
Patron: The girl is a witch.
Mal: Yeah, but she's our witch.
[Cocks shotgun and aims at Town Patron]
Mal: So cut her the hell down.

    Lots -

The end of "Lie to Me" when Buffy asks Giles to try and cover up the dark side of her job that she finally accepts is out there.

"Passion" - when Angel leaves Giles a rather nasty surprise.

When Cordy shows an unexpected side to her during her encounter with Lilah in Season 5.

    "Mum? Mommy? Mommy?!"

The constant use of "Dead boy".

    ... and lots more.

I haven't seen Firefly (yet) and despite Eliza Dushku, Dollhouse doesn't work for me.

Angel Season 5 had some great moments, especially towards the end. The whole fight between Spike and Angel on "Cavemen and astronauts" is a cracker. "Smile Time". Spike: "You're a little puppet man!" Also in Season 5 of Angel when Cordy says "You're Welcome"...the saddest moment of them all.

IMHO, "Not Fade Away" was the best ending of any show ever. The last scene is perfect ("Well, personally, I kind of want to slay the dragon") and Illyria to Wes: "Would you like me to lie to you now?"

Overall though I prefer the earlier seasons of Angel (that's another thread though) but Doyle's death in Season 1 is very memorable.

Angel Season 1, Cordelia: "Are you still...Grrr?" One of the funniest of them all!

Buffy Season 3, where Willow pretending to be a vampire, waves at Oz was hilarious.

Joyce telling Buffy that if she leaves, that she cant come back. Buffy' reaction, that slaying is her job.

Oh, poor Watcher. Did your life pass before your eyes? Cup of tea, cup of tea, almost got shagged, cup of tea?:D

I got chills just reading that.

But yeah, pretty much anything in Firefly. I especially love whenever Mal says something in Joss-speak; "I surely do", "I'd take it as a kindness if she didn't", "You try to kill 'em right back".

There's a few classic buffy lines, for example:

Xander: Can we hurry up please? The suspense is killing Angel!

But it's mostly in Firefly that they have the best lines:
Janyne: Wash didn't you ever hear of the chain of command? It's the ruttin' chain I beat you with until you start obeying my commands'

Inara: I assume you overheard that conversation?
Mal: Only on acounta' I was eavesdropping

One of the best though was when Mal first opened the cryo thing with River in it asking, 'So what's so important in here?' Then he sees River, pauses, and just goes 'Huh...!' That bit's so damn funny!

Sir Warwick Harrow: You have to finish it, lad. You have to finish it. For a man to lay beaten... and yet breathing? It makes him a coward.
    Inara Serra: It's humiliation.
Mal: Sure. It would be humiliating. Having to lie there while the better man refuses to spill your blood. Mercy is the mark of a great man.
[lightly stabs Atherton with the sword]
Mal: Guess I'm just a good man.
    [stabs him again]
    Mal: Well, I'm all right.

Series One -Buffy. When she is facing the master for the second time after she 'died'.

    Master: But your dead.
Buffy: I may be dead, but I'm still pretty

    I really enjoyed that.

I can not believe that no one said this yet

Jayne: You know what the chain of command is? It's the chain I go get and beat you with 'til ya understand who's in ruttin' command here. Now we're finishing this deal,

    Followed by
Jayne: and then maybe, *maybe* we'll come back for those morons who got themselves caught. You can't change that by getting all... bendy.
    Wash: All what?
Jayne: [starts swaying] You've got the - the light from the console... keep you, lift you up. They shine like...
[starts grabbing at the air like he's trying to catch something]
    Jayne: little angels...
[Jayne falls flat on his face]
Wash: Did he just go crazy and fall asleep?
Simon: I told him to sit down.

Gonna have to go with when Spike realises Angel is a puppet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,747 ✭✭✭fisgon

Spike, though emasculated with the chip, threatens violence to someone or something. Giles looks at him disdainfully and asks...
"What are you going to do, give him a good running-away-from?"

Also, Spike tries to bite Willow, still with chip, and can't 'perform'. She tries to comfort him, telling him that she is sure that it happens to all vampires, at one time or other. Perfectly written, perfectly played.

Buffy and Faith switch bodies, and Buffy, with Faith controlling her, is asked how she is. She replies.."five by five", and we know what has happened.

The trio and Buffy finally squaring up to each other, though no-one can agree on the plural of 'nemesis'.

Practically anything that Anya says, anytime, in any episode. Tactlessness personified.
