    I'm wondering the same myself.

simple answer is it is more expensive to administer and collect charged manually (as in collect from people who don't have tags) than from those who have one of the many tag / registration options.

So it wouldn't be fair on those who have signed up to the various options to have to pay for the admin cost of those who don't have a tag.

The cost then reflects the type of customer.

BTW, the fact that the toll for me is still €2, but I don't have to sit pulling my hair out in queues anymore is a plus point. Obviously I'd prefer not to have to pay a toll at all, but at the moment I can get on the M50 at Blanch at morning rush hour and be in my office in Ballymount in less than 10 minutes ... compared to the alternatives that is worth €2.

    Thanks

I thought it was 3 euro for everyone.

    So if you've a tag it's still 2 euro?

The people who travel most often on the M50 almost certainly have a tag or at least a registration. But people travelling on the M1, M4 etc do not get a discount at these tolls for using a tag, even though the cost of collection is less.

Its a van, why would it not be classed as commercial?

You can privatly tax a large van too, it's still a van though.

Sorry, but no its not. Small vans, under 2.5t are only 3.80.

I have a transit connect for my business AND I do the tolling, I just tried it.

On M50 the weight limit for small vans is 2000kg whereas on other toll roads it is 3000kg.

So if you drive a commercial jeep that is 2100kg ULW you are charged the large truck rate.

I'll tell you a good one got a fine in the post yesterday for 47 euro. Rang them up to say i had paid it..........with the reference from the receipt......They said it was all my fault because i didnt pay it off correctly. ( i went into a shop and gave my reg number, )

They told me i would have to pay the 47 and then they would credit my account for the 6 euro they already received orinally. They accept i paid it, but they put it in a different account.

To call them clowns would insult clowns

Cz ur suppose to pay using your letter if ur paying late!! It states that on the letter  so yes it was YOUR fault. It doesnt go into a different account BTW, it does not allign with the correct citation if the letter is not used, and I hope the clowns insult is for the NRA and BetEireflow as they are the ones that put all the processes associated with the M50 into place. :P :P

have many people with tags/registered been double charged or charged for using the toll when they were somewhere else altogether?

if you are "registered" or have a tag how easy is it to get refunded if you are charged in error?

madbitch its very hard to pay with the letter after you have already paid for it.

so how is it my fault? its was already paid on time and they want me tp pay again...........should i......dont think so

And the clown insult is for eflow........they accept i paid on time but need me to pay again so there systems can be sorted as they cant put a credit through..........and they spent 45 million setting up this system and they cant put a 6 euro credit onto the rite account.....i dont know

    Bleedin rip-off it is!

Apart from the fact its been paid over 17 times, its not staffed anymore! Used to be staffed 24 hours a day by at least 2/3 people, @ min wage = €227,322 savins a year! But i'm sure they were on more than the mw!

They get on average 100k passers a day
    €2 x 100k = €200,000
    €3 x 100k = €300,000 -
    = €100,000 extra per DAY

So they take in abt €73million a year :O

    Robbin shower 'o hooers!

    Corruption? Never!!
