Unless I miss heard a ford main dealer wanted €95+Vat for a new key for a 01 transit. I presume some of the better locksmiths do this service for a lot less?. There is no fob on my key just a blue dot in the corner which I presume is the coding part. There does not look to be much in the way of humps and bumps on the blade of my key, are all key blades for the transit the same and its the chip that determines wheather it starts the motor or not. Based N/side of Dublin just incase anyone got one done recently for reasonalbe money.

    Thanks

Shop around. I tried an auto locksmith (autokey.ie) and found they were dearer than the main dealer.

€95 sounds fine to me tbh, I paid €120 for mine on a 10+ year old car, and that was the cheapest I could find.

I've been putting off doing this for a long while, only have one key for my car, but those prices sound similar to what I've found when looking into it on those occasions when my keys go missing for extended periods of time!
