I'm thinking of putting a body kit on a new car i'm in the process of buying. Do insurance companies consider the car as a "modified car" for the purposes of insurance even if its only the body of the car that is modified and not the performance?

I think that strictly speaking they would regard it as "modified" as in changed in some way from its original state. having said that, thats not to say that the modification in question will alter the premium in any way. After all, practically every car on the roads has been "modified" in some way after a period of time, from furry dice to full body kits! I suspect that the insurance company should be told about the mods, as they will look for every possible excuse to invalidate a policy in the event of a claim. You proposal form will clearly ask " Has the vehicle been modified in any way from the manufacturers specifications?" Body Kit = Yes.
