    Well,

I'm repeating a module in DCU and heard that if you pass cos I'm repeating the result will be put down as 40% no matter if i get above that.

Had a look on registry website but didn't find anything.Anyone know??

    Thanks:D

No you will get whatever you get in the exam. But you will only get a pass an as over all mark.

Ah ok, fair enough i suppose. Just as well it won't be counting towards my final mark for my degree;)

    Thanks for clearing that up.

    Yeah definitely.
mark in repeat exam = mark that appears in your statement of exam results you get after exams.

Not sure what ur man was on about above regarding "pass degrees" etc but for most courses its only your final mark that counts towards your degree.

You see your actual result that you get in the exam but in terms of 1.1s 2.1s etc you get a pass. And a pass for the whole year. Or 3.0

Im not so sure about that, alot people including myself had to repeat chemistry in the summer last year and when we got the results, anyone who i have asked got 40% including myself. Coincidence? I dont think so. Im not sure anyway, so correct me if im wrong.

No. If you all got 40% it is far more probable that you all failed and they put you up to a pass.
I have sat plenty of repeats and have only gotten 40% once ( ihave done a bout 6) .
However you will only get a overall pass grade for that year if you do have to repeat.

Call into your school/faculty secretary and ask them, apparently it can differ between courses.

    Hey,
I just wanted to ask what are the chances of passing repeats by extenuating circumstances, say for example you fail one of your repeat exam due to extenuating circumstances, Does DCU go easy on you , will they let you go into second year? like what are the chances.?
    Thanks

The average of the marks of the First attempted Assessment determine your degree classification.

I.E. The average marks of all the modules taken in the Academic Year.

Resit attempts require 40% to pass the module, however the original failed mark counts for calculating the overall grade - 2.1/2.2 or a 3rd.
