Problems with readymix

Poured floors in new house three weeks ago yesterday. There were showers the day we poured the readymix, but the days after were good. The concrete hasn't set properly, and you could write your name in the top of it. A rep for the company that supplied it was out to see it, and he said it is fine and thats what happens when it rains on it. Does anyone know is he correct, and what we should do now?

Get your supervising Architect/Technician/Engineer to inspect it.

Are u saying that after 3 weeks the whole lot is still soft and not set and that today u can write your name in it?

If so is it soft all the way through?

If there is a lot of rain on fresh concrete you can get a soft scummy skin, maybe 6mm thick but the rest should be well set now as it reaches about 80% of design strength by day 28.

However there is always the possibility that too much 'retardant' was put in the concrete mix: hence delaying the setting

three weeks and still soft. Even if there were showers concrete should harden.
Is this the subfloor you poured? Concrete should harden in a few days. The rep is talking bollix. Get someone out immediately, get a test done and post the results. Keep a record of when the concrete was poured, any slips you got form the lorries that delivered your concrete (they should show batch numbers, strength etc..) and take it from there.
