Methinks, that i you wait 71 days(31st July), you might have your pick of safes going cheap;):p

Possibly bazza - the idea this year is that all 238,000 licences get staggered out, so some will have their licence renewed in august, some in september, and so on. You might wind up getting more than two months out of it, you might not. Noone knows for sure, not even the Minister.

any idea how much the 3 year liscense is?not sure how much it is for the .22 iwant at the moment even, some people say 30 for the year some say 60.

Noone seems to know. NARGC are saying up to 100 euro; the original figure talked about some months ago with the FCP was 66 euro. Right now, no idea.

i mean how much is just the one year license now?

€39 for rifles and pistols, less for shotguns, much less for subsequent shotguns.

There will probably be alot of people with gunsafes and no guns to put in them, hence buyers market= reduced prices

yeah but why would they just get rid of there gun?just because the license is for 3years?

They will not have any choice. You now have to apply for renewal of any FAC, under strict new guidelines, not yet made public. Before this you got your renewal automatically. DOJ will use these new guidelines to reduce the number of firearms in the country (for example insisting that you have a strongroom to dealer standards or (tongue in cheek) insisting that you have an underground bunker with 24 hour armed guards. All this is allowed for in the new bill and do not think that Ahern will not try something like this.

so ishould probably forget about getting a .22 so,they might just take it off me in 2mths when the law changes.

No. .22 SHOULD be ok but you must have good and valid reason i.e. member of target shooting club, vermin control etc and be able to prove it. They will almost certainly insist on safe if not a monitored alarm. I believe that the new guidelines will try to make acquisation as expensive and jump through he hoops as possible therefore cutting down on applications.

THIS IS A PERSONAL VIEW, AND HOPE BEYOND HOPE THAT I AM WRONG.
