Some great racing - how about that 1500m with the lad Robinson knocking 6secs off his PB with O'Brien just getting the verdict.

(Shame the field events were so poorly supported but I'm not surprised due to the lack of any publicity).

Great night competition and beautiful conditions. Humid and a only a little wind.

I think the GV Ryan/Louis V competition can be revived to its glory days. The original saturday date would have helped but the action on the track was a vast improvement to the carry on down in Athlone last Sunday.

    Some good stuff tonight.

    Approximate results...

    1500A

    1 Alan O'Brien 3.49ish
2 Young fellow from St. Cocoa's, Paul???
    3 Conor Healy 3.51/52

pacemaker went through in 59/65, Healy the only one to go with it, picked off towards the end, a great race to the line for 1st and 2nd.

    1500B

    1 3.57

Hazel Murphy ran a great 4.13/14 in this race.

    800

    1 Eoin Everard 1.50
2/3/4 1.52, I think Pheilim Kelly took it from Anthony Leighio, and someone else

Everard fairly imperious, 55/55 great 2nd last 100. Great battle for 2nd.

    1500 ladies

    1 Ffrench O'Carroll
    2 Aoife Bady
    3 Ffrench O'Carroll

    3000

    1 Sean Connolly 8.10
    2 Brendan O'Neill DSD 8.12/13
    3 Mark Kirwan

O'Neill blasted out the first lap, must have been close to 60s, but rejoined the pack at about 700. Connolly very strong and went comfortably with 250 to go. Good runs from Aidan Bailey and Tom Fitzpatrick, both under 8.20 I'd say. Mark Christie paced some young lad, ? Jake from Mullingar Harriers to a sub 8.40 qualifying time for ? Europeans, he ran a great race, picking up a fair few places and I think he did it fairly comfortably. Craig Murphy and Shane Quinn also looked fairly steady, ? somewher around 8.30.

Got there too late for the 400 hurdles but it was supposed to be a cracker with a very close finish between Jeremy Lyons and some other fellow from Clonliffe I think.

Crusaders won the 4x100 well in 43secs, looked very impressive for a club team.

Apologies if any of the above is incorrect.

I have some results and times. I understand the full results have been sent to the webmaster of the Milers so hopefully it will be on their website soon.

29 PBs were achieved with just under 70 athletes competing i.e 40 % of athletes got pbs.

A special night indeed with some great races. The 3 k was special. and I was delighted to see that all the races were started at the exact time they were advertised. Well done.

    A 1500 ALAN O'bRIEN 3.50.8, Paul Robinson 3.50.95, Conor Healy 3.52.45.
    B McKillop 3.57.63, Travers 3.58.70, McFadden 3.59.19
    Womens 1500 French O'Carrol (C) 4.32.13, Brady, 4.34.73 French O'Carrol (R) 4.37.03.
    3k A = Connolly 8.10.93, O'Neill 8.12.66 and Kirwan 8.16.04.
    B 3k Jake Byrne 8.30 sorry can't find the other 2 lads.

    thanks, interesting

is it worth joining the IMC (as a slower club runner)? Do they usually have many races in the year? There's not much listed on their website ...

Full results on Irish Milers site now.Small mistake with Brendan O'Neill in 3k A race who was 2nd with 8.12 not 8.21.

Other than that great that Milers had a meet, great fields, on time and results on website within 24 hours. Well done.

Any results of those field events by any chance?

I'll see if I can trace them. But honestly they were sparsley contested to say the least and I don't think there was anything of note to report.

The Milers club tend to have 4/6 events a year. I understand that this year there are 3 in Irishtown next is 24th June and then a week before Nationals. They then have a mile and 800 in teh Schools 30th May and then an 800 at Cork City sports.

The aim of the IMC is to raise the standard of Middle distance in Ireland. The races tend to attract the athletes who would be expected to be in finals at Natioanls and then some a or b athletes who compete in graded. Therefore depends what you mean by slower club runner. Have a lok at results and see would you be ok with the pace.
