For the first time in an age I have found a reason to get my Wii and Wii board going again.

great reviews and the Wii board (to dodge) and wiimote/chuck to punch looks great fun!

Don't tell me you need the board for this :/

You don't need the board to play but you can use it if you would like your ducking and weaving to be picked up automatically by the board.

Brilliant. Completely old school with the option to play it with all the cool wii controls, including the board.

It really is a fantastic game. Was playing it myself last night. Didn't get the Wii board out for it - I tend to move alot more than the area of the Wii board once I get in the thick of the action so could well end up with a broken ankle if I did :D

Whats the story with the Wii.
A lot of my friends have got it only to use it for 2-3 weeks then let throw it to one side.

It seems a lot of craic

I played it for 2.5 hours 3 nights ago. For the last few days I feel Like I did a full session at the gym. Every muscle in my chest, arms and sides had been used! I also sweated a bucket and I do my fair share of exercise!

I can't say I'd recommend a Wii to someone TBH.

It is a lot of craic but it's aimed at a different gamer than your PS3 / Xbox 360 players. It is a lot more physical / sports and party orientated console and that's not everyones cup of tea other than the initial novelty factor. There are loads of arcade and shooter games etc as well but nothing like say Gears Of War standard. It's strength is the sports and party area where the unique controls are utilised to their full potential. So some people buy it and get three weeks out of it before growing tired of it whilst others ( dare I say more physically active and fun loving ) will never grow tired of it.

Best advice I'd give anyone is borrowing or renting one for a few weeks and if you're still enjoying it after the third week go out and buy one then.

This particular game is brilliant and as Future Guy said this one literally is like being at the gym. I was shattered myself. :D

For me it makes a great second console. My 360 by far gets the most play but every now and again a unique and excellent game like punch out, no more heroes or mario galaxy comes out and the wii gets a bit of play time again. It gets more play time than my PS3 at least.

Thats precisely why I went for Wii, I knew that there would be games on Wii that I wanted to play that would not be available anywhere else. I dont get much out of the GTA4s and Gears of War of this world and while if I had gone for a 360 i'm sure I'd play it a lot I'd always regret missing out on Mario, Zelda and the other quirky gems on Wii.

Have to say that the Wii has been gathering dust ... until now that is :D

Love this game and I have the wii fit board but didn't know you could use it on this. Will try that out for sure :)

I quite like this game but wrote a review for a magazine and had to give it 3/5, I just don't feel there's enough progression in the Punch-Out franchise here (1 new fighter, no online, crap 2 player) to justify paying full price. There are PSN and Xbox Live remakes of classics with more features and depth for 80% cheaper. It's still a fun game, but that's because Punch-Out, no matter which title in its history you buy, is always fun

    3/5 ? sounds a bit harsh imo :)

Maybe the progression isn't there as you say but I never played the originals so I wouldn't know. I would imagine the majority of gamers wouldn't either.

It may not have progressed from super punch-out but it's still one of the best fighting systems for any game. I didn't see anywhere marking Halo 3 down because it was basically the same as the original or Castlevania Order of Ecclesia down because it's the same formula since Symphony of the Night :/

Strange, I was really looking forward to this but then the fact that its so similar to the Super Punch Out put me off. The characters and tactics are the exact same. I played Punch out to Death and it really is great fun but I dunno if after all the hours I logged in Super Punch Out I could be bothered with this just for the controls.

I think the review in Official Nintendo Mag (although always positive reviews!!), gives it a bit more about it than just the controls.

Playing through a second time gives the characters completely new routines (Glass Jaw wears a head guard making him a lot more difficult to beat).

The exhibition mode sounds interesting too.

I haven't got it yet, but am really hopeful it will offer more than just different control options.

How much is it in xtravision does anyone know?

I bit the bullet and picked it up in Gamestop the other day for €40. It's very similar to super punch out. It's good enough fun, the head to head was a laugh and some of the Exhibition challenges look like they could extend the game a bit. It's the same old formula of fight a guy, lose badly, learn his pattern then beat him down.
