Main Gas Line Ruptured in Carnmore

Absolute pandamonium around Oranmore today. The main Gas pipe line in Carnmore was ruptured earlier today by a "third party" contractor. Don't think it was anything to do with the N6 motorway but more like some guy in a JCB doing drainage work on private land.

Anyways the road from Oranmore to Claregalway is completely closed causing huge traffic jams on the dual carriageway from Briarshill all the way out to the Maldron hotel roundabout and also Briarshill/Airport road to Carnmore.

Avoid the area if possible, could be an all day job to repair the damage.

Just back from Loughrea - 20 mins to get from Loughrea to Oranmore - about 20 miles, 45 mins to get from the Dublin Rd roundabout to the Quality Hotel roundabout, about 500m!

Word on galway bay fm is that they expect open the road again in 1 hour

EDIT: Road is open again, but traffic still v.bad
