Broken laptop screen

    Hi,

I've made a fairly extensive crack in my Dell Inspiron 1525 screen this morning. Its only 6 months old-disgusted.

Anyway, it seems that getting it fixed will cost around €300. I've looked at Ebay and screens are going for around €30 there. Has anyone had any experience with going this route, or perhaps a friend who has?

I wonder if I could bring a screen to a shop and get them to do the labour-considering the times we're in I'd say they'd be eager for business.

Find out if you ring dell for an warranty on accidental damage then wait a week and claim might be cheaper and you still have warranty

I got mine through the Pixmania website. I need to check the details again tonight, but I don't think the warranty extends to accidental damage.

If the house insurance covers it I'll get a new one altogether I'd say.

I know someone was on boards before with this issue and he was told to get accidental insurance off dell (by a dell customer service person) for laptop and then claim the next day. Some house insurance might cover this too with no cost to you so do look into this.

Oh I see, very clever. I presume you can take the insurance out at any time so? That would be the job!
