Just read this - sbpost.ie - David Williams

Regarding the length of dole q's in Letterkenny, I recall waiting with my dad in the dole one Christmas in the 80's, it went right down the street a good 200 metres. Scary stuff and we are only a small town (Ardee, County Louth).

Anybody seen them elsewhere around the country?

I was driving through Nenagh a few weeks ago to visit a friend and there was a very considerable dole queue. It reminded me of pictures of dole queues in the UK from my old history book, very worrying stuff. It's not like we don't know the figures, but to see the physical manifestation of it just brings it home I guess.
