PDF Outlining Terms on Career Break for Civil Servants.

There's a mention at the end of the FAQ that the provisions of the scheme may be extended to other sectors of the overall Public Service. Word on the Grapevine is that the mainstream HSE and Local Authorities are next in line for said scheme.

Question to all ES members here - Should it be extended to include us all; would you avail of it?

It's doubtful that it'll be offered to us; as even trying to get a standard Career Break in the good times was difficult..but what do you think?

There is something on the AGS Portal about this scheme. Has anybody read it yet?

I'd definately jump at the chance.

I joined when I was 18 and was too young in my opinion. I'd love a year or two to maybe travel, try something else etc and then come back refreshed to the job.

In most cases when you take a career break from the public sector, you cannot work within the state.

Id be working in a far sunnier climate than this state.
Full time beachbum in Australia, New Zealand, America...... Its depressing even thinking about it
