Studs vs blades

Have a pair of Puma Kings with studs that have me driven mad as they come out during play regularly, and it always seems to be the ones at the rear bar once. Thinking of replacing them not because they are overly worn but because of this

Anyway, can anyone tell my whether the blades are any better than studs in terms of slip prevention etc, or are they just a fad? One guy I know swears by a pair of adidas ones but though I'm not convinced

If I was you,I'd use the Puma King up until around April when the soil starts getting a bit harder.Forget blades,I never used them but I'd imagine they cut the feet under you.

My suggestion, try and get a pair of boots with the built in rubber studs. They are great and can be used all year.

I have a pair of mouldies too, it's the studed variety that I have a problem with. Weather is still very changable at the moment, and too many fields with crap drainage

It really always depends on the pitch I think. If it will be in good condition (no mud patches) wear the blades. When it is ****e just wear the studs

Lads, really, you want two pairs of boots, something with grip that'll hold (some people prefer blades to a long 6 stud) in crappy weather and something that won't slow you down if the ground gets much harder (that's your moulded stud, blades can work on harder ground better than a long stud as well).

You might say you're paying for two pairs of boots, but in theory, you're playing the same amount of games so they should last you twice as long.

You may be wearing those 6 stud boots on hard ground which is going to put pressure on the studs because they're much longer (your running action is heel to toe, and those heel studs are longer so you're going to put more pressure on them). Try thinking about getting a second pair of moulded studs or the blades along with them.

    Phil.

Alex Ferguson doesn't allow any United players to wear blades afaik if that tells you anything about them...

Ferguson and Wenger dont allow them, says it all really. You really need 2 pairs of boots, one mouldey (or multi studs as we call them) and 1 pair of 6 studs. My recommendation is the Adidas Copa Mundials are by far the most superior mouldey boots, nothing i have ever used compares to them. Regards 6 studs, i have never been truly happy and as soon as i can wear the mouldey's i do, but have been using the Adidas World Cups for the last 2 seasons.
Wouldn't touch blades though. Cause ankle injuries by not allowing the foot turn due to the varied shape of the blade, Good for grip, not for sport though..

Wouldn't wear blades myself. They have been proven to cause knee and ankle injuries. As a previous poster said they give too much grip and hence cause the injury to occur.

I wear a pair of Puma King mouldies and couldn't be happier with them. :)

studs for me. Blades too much grip - have seen too many players injured when landing and trying to turn quickly.

Yeah, have them, they are grand. I think I'll have to pick up another pair of studed ones, not kings again though

adidas F50's came with three complete sets of studs for all types of weather.

The Copa Mundials are the best ones I have used, and still using. I have a pair of the f50's that I use sometimes during the winter, when pitches are quite bad - but you really need two, if not three pairs of boots

Totally agree with that. I myself have 3 but mostly change between 2 of them!
