My email is eircom.net and I am currently trying to send someone 1 photo from my pictures file and it won't send it. Why is this can anyone tell me?
I click on attachments, then browse and then select the pic but it won't send it.
    Thanks for advice in advance.

Who is your ISP and what is the size of the photo you are trying to attach?

Try sending it using www.mail2web.com (using your Eircom login) and see if that works?

(I'm assuming you're using the Eircom webmail interface at the moment).

Forgive my ignorance but I just know it's a pic I took with a digital camera.
    Whats ISP?

That seems to only check for new emails.

    Whats ISP?

ISP = Internet Service Provider e.g. Eircom, Imagine, BT, Perlico

It allows you to compose mails etc too.

ISP = Internet Service Provider (Eircom, BT, Perlico, O2, etc)

The reason you were asked regarding the Size of the picture, is generally with email, there is a limit of 2mg bandwidth. So if it is larger it won't send.

You can check my highlighting the picture and right clicking on it and click on properties which will display the size off the picture/file.

    OK thanks lads.
I presume my ISP is eircom as thats my email address.
I am using an o2 modem on my laptop.
The picture size seems to be 1.66 mb after I right clicked it.
Whats my next move to send the photo?

OK your ISP is O2 while using the Midband dongle (all mobile products are referred to here as Midband as they are not broadband) and you will have to change your outgoing SMTP server to reflect that as you cannot send a mail using the SMTP servers of another ISP due to spam protection measures (they don't allow it as it would create an open relay)

Let me dig around for the settings, post which program you are using to send mail eg: Outlook, Outlook Express, Thunderbird etc and we can guide you to how to make the changes needed.

smtp.o2.ie appears to be the server setting you need to enter.

    Hi Finbark,

I have an email account myself with eircom (rarely use it), so I tried to do likewise on this end.

I logged onto their portal and composed a message to my main account and picked a file/picture similar in size to yours, 1.45mb and clicked on "attach to message".

What I received was "Internal Server Error" and contact the webmaster, which I will do.

I am currently in a public library and the ISP here is Eircom. I'll check it again later when I am up in my College, So it is on their end.

In the mean time, maybe you should use this site to send your picture http://www.yousendit.com .

    Regards

    James

Got it sorted. A mate of mine showed me how to reduce the size of the photos and it worked. eircom.net allows you to send 5 pics with each email once this is done.
