pffft, of course!! if you don't have a scam going you're a nobody. How can you sleep at night knowing that you're not screwing anybody over?

Yes they are all at it, the difference being the brits wont stand for it. Hence the plans announced today for an independant group to police mp's wages/expenses, less than 10 days after the scandal was revealed.

Its typical of the Irish to stand for the type of corruption and crap that goes on in our government. If its just going to be all talk talk talk, then we deserve what we get.

Id me more inclined to do it if I was in Irish goverment, seen as they can do anything they want and all the irish seem to want to do about it is go onto Joe Duffy and winge.

Wheres the protests, wheres the no confidence, wheres all the action to change what these "leaders" are doing? Its all in the media, talk talk talk

OK ..from the responses it seems that everybody IS "at it" ..i.e ripping off employers, employees, customers, friends, neighbours, etc etc. !

Seems to be a commonly held view that if "you get the chance" then it's OK to rip off / steal / scam etc.

Thsoe chappies over on the Mainland seem to have brought expense fiddling to a high art form..hard to believe the hard neck of some of them.

Probably a safe bet that the lads and lassies over here are at it too !

Shouls be an election issue IMO....:(

Eh? Now we have corruption equations? What are you, an economics student?

    My take on it:

    ((Power^2)(Dail bar + (Mary Harney)(Biffo) * (Bertie^1000)) / ((People's apathy)(Tradition)) = Ireland

If that scandal happened here in Ireland every self-loathing twit with a boards account would be on here with the "where else but Ireland" shyte.

See? It's not just our politicians who are cnuts!!!

Yeah, but listening about the relatively small amount of money that's being talked about across the pond compared what seems to be tolerated here, i'd say ours are way bigger cnuts.

Wouldn't just comfine it just to politicians...I'd say our Captains of Industry know how to work the system.

Just look at the recent Fas issues..an the union guy who chairs the place is still there.

had a great spin line though " would be letting down the hard working employees if he were to quit".

Brilliant..some PR fookoo earned the corn for that one.

Saw the various pension arrangements for our "top bankers" in today's Indo..the guys that lost many peoples hard earned cash looked after themselves well.

As did the politicos...until public opinion rumbled them......

Sometimes i wonder if our media are letting us down here...the sort of "Decentskinmanship" that the Dunph rightly refers to...hmmm ?
