Kirsty's home videos

So here's what happened, years ago I was skiing in Italy and I was only learning, I was bombing down this slope and at the end I went to stop. Turned to the right and crashed right into a bin. I remember looking up and seeing some English guy with a video camera. 3 years later (this was a few years ago now) I'm watching Kirsty's home videos on Sky1, during a montage of skiiing and snowboarding mishaps I see myself skiing into this bin, its definatly me I can recognise the jacket and hat I was wearing, I have pictures from the holiday and I'm wearing the same gear. Some fecker made £200 off me. Anyway, nobody I've told about this believes me! So I'd like a copy to prove it to them and just for my own amusement. I've tried to download it with no luck. I sent a general inquiry to sky customer support asking for a copy of the tape of the show, they told me that due to copyright restrictions they can't help me. I reckon this is just a fob off because the ticket was open for a while and they just wanted to get rid of it. What do you think? Do I have any rights to a copy of the clip? When the person who recorded the clip submits it do they pass all rights to sky?

    Hi,
It was shown on Sky1, unfortunatly I don't have any information regarding the date. I should have contacted you sooner. I remember the clip I was in was shown in a segment featuring a series of skiing/snowboarding falls. I'm not sure if it is possible for you to find this clip with such limited information, I don't know how many episodes of kirsty's home videos there were, but I would really like to have it if possible. I appreciate your assistance with this!
    Kind Regards,

    XXXXXXXXX

Several years ago I saw a clip of myself on Kirsty's Home Videos. I was skiing in Italy at the time, I remember seeing somebody with a camcorder after I fell! How would I go about obtaining a copy of the tape or tapes of the show? I would really appreciate any help in this regard as nobody I've told that I was on the show believes me! Thank you for your assistance.

Unless you signed a release of some kind I'd say yes.

If they never had the rights in the first place, see above, they can't pass them on to Sky can they?

If you are serious about following it up contact a solicitor, there could be a few bob in it for you.

Ahh I wouldn't be bothered, sounds like a lot of effort.

I'm not sure I would be entitled to any money otherwise everybody who was on the show would be doing it.

You do know all those other people are actually in on the clip and have split the money? You didn't think they actually backed into the swimming pool while trying to get a photo taken by accident?

    You calling shenanigans on them?

Yeah I'd say a good few of them are fake but mine can't be the only real clip!

How did you know the guy filming was English?

given you have your (timestamped?) photos of the holiday and can prove otherwise via passport or the like you were there at the time, it should be an easy thing to file against.

A go on Kirsty is the only fitting recompense for their shoddy act of exploitation.

    See to it, Sky.

Free to film, maybe, depending on local laws. It was filmed in Italy, laws may be different.
Anyway free to publish for gain may be another issue altogether.

Cos he was part of a group of very loud people shouting with English accents. You can usually spot brits abroad a mile away.
