I'm a new member of Boards.ie so go easy on me please ;-)

I have been offered a Grad job at Accenture, Dublin in SI&T. I am due to start in Nov this year (2009) and was just curious to see if there's anyone else starting around the same time.

Also it would be interesting to hear from any current or past Grads at Accenture and the experiences they've had.

Look forward to hearing from y'all.

are they still taking people on? they let go quite a few recently. What kind of starting salary are they offering, if you dont mind me asking?

Heard they cut alot of jobs recently, I got to the first one was PFO'd then heard the hours are tough but the hours are tough everywhere in Grad programs now.

They either make you or break you I reckon and you'll have to really buy into the Accenture "ethos"! Best of luck with it!

    Good luck with Accidenture...

Well done on getting the offer. Accenture only hired a handful of grads this year (<20), compared to 50+ for the previous several years.

Don't be too surprised if your start date is pushed back into early 2010- there are a large number of the 2008 grad intake who were put on leave earlier this year, and will be coming back to Accenture in September/October.

I worked for them for a while as an experienced hire and saw the life of Grad.

As a grad you will be expected to work 12 hour days if you are out on client site. You will socialise with accenture, play sports with their teams, and generally be available to the detriment of your life. You will find it very challenging and your peers will be unscrupulous, uncaring and focused on climbing the pole to the detriment of you and all others around. Your manager will shaft you when you fail and take credit when you succeed.

In return you will earn a LOT of money. If you are in the top 10% of your intake you can expect to be earning a base salary of 100k within 5 years. Add in overtime, benefits and bonuses you could be earning 125k+. Your training will be top class and you will learn from the best people in the business. If you are really good you could be a junior partner (they dont call it that any more btw) in 7 years and a partner (exec) in 10.At that point be prepared to work 15 hours a day. The sky really is the limit wth them though

So there you go. If you are young, free, single, willing to work your ass off for the next ten years to get where you want to be. You love office politics, thrive on stress and deadlines, are sociable and have a perverse streak you will love it. If not you are likely to find you hate it.

Thanks for the info guys! Yeah I have heard a lot of similar stories and I have no doubt that I will be worked hard. However now that I am young, free and single I guess now is the time to do it..

"Accidenture" - lol..I see what you did there 'thewing'.

I worked for one of the well known / global consulting firms for a few years. While I did not join as a grad, I can understand some of what you will do there.
Firstly, yes, it will be tough work, long hours and you will need to sink or swim in the office politics; in short it can be tough and nasty.
However, you will learn a huge amount, meet a lot of people and see how a lot of businesses work.
Whether you stay for 2 years, 5 years or life, it will be experience that will stand for you... if you are willing to work hard.
I am now gone to a different job and while there were times I had concerns about working in the old place, looking back now, it was worth it.

I think he's getting the consulting end mixed up with the SIT area, they pay is higher in the Consulting arm from what I found out and responsilbilty and pressure go with it.

People I know that worked in SIT found it a bit more laid back but its still gonna be tough.

To be honest I'd prefer to go into a job thats going to work you hard, in order to come out better on the other side of it.

    Hiya,

I have just got an invite to the Accenture interview with one of the managers. The interview is 45 minutes long and consists of competency based questions. Any advice on how this interview normally looks like? I would be gratefull for any thoughts...

What job are you going for? I just went through the interview process with Accenture Technology Solutions, but it's quite different to the consultancy interview process.

Interviews were fine, didn't really get a good grilling at any stage. The two processes are completely different though so I can't really help you.

    Hey alanKJM et al...

I've an interview this week for SI&T. Did you end up taking the job? If so, how is it? What are the hours and pay like?

I'm probably jumping the gun a little here...anyone who's had an interview have any tips? Is it the usual 'give an example of a time when you showed your skills of...'??

Any help much appreciated! I'm currently working part-time in retail and it's slowly killing me...

Hi mccauga4, this is quite an old thread - please start a new one instead of bumping old ones.
