As soon as you've met the right person and are both ready. You can be 18 or 62, a good marriage is about a mixture of personal readiness and the compatibility of the couple. Age doesn't really factor into it.

Don't see why there should be a difference in genders really, once both partners are mature, have similar expectations for their relantionship and know how to listen to each other :)

For me, I'd like to think I'll be ready at 27/28

Me and my friends (all girls) were actually talking about this the other day and we all agreed 27 is the perfect age to get married at, which seems to be a popular answer on this thread also.

I'll be 25, my H2B will be 27 when we tie the knot (October next year). I agree with Iguana though, any age is good to get married. If my OH had proposed when we started going out (17 & 19) and we were both ready, I certainly wouldn't have said no just because we weren't the 'right' age.

I don't think age is all that big of an issue, especially for guys. To be honest I think that at times some people actually lend too much weight on what's the best time, so its a question of when you know you know

I'm 29 (yesterday), H2B is 29 in 2 weeks, been together 5 yrs. feels just right now, really depends on the couple tho and what age you met! think any age is a good age!! I always wanted to be married by 30, will be just gone 30 when getting married.

God this is a depressing thread. Getting married in Ireland is still seen as an achievement!

"What age is best?"...dear oh dear

I think we should revisit this thread in 10 years and see what age was best for divorce!!!

    Methinks 2009 + 5 = 2014

    OP already divorced :o

I agree with Iguana - we got engaged 9 years before we got married but I just did not feel that I was ready...when I did we got married 3 months later, am so grateful that my husband waited for me. Having said that, if I could do it again I would have married him when I was 25, but that is just me.
