Nice poll.. Let's me see if im the only one who's finding prices high or if we're all in the same boat!

Hey! I'm not paying 110 euro a week for someone on the internet to call me a twat!

The problem with this poll is that it's not in context... I mean, twin rooms are cheaper, apartments are more expensive, etc etc...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,890 ✭✭✭Effluo

    That's true!
    I'll edit it slightly.......

So how will i do that???
I kinda figure college accommadation in reality is just college accommadation...

Sure you have nice house's and "not so nice" houses but we're students so who really gives a damn?
It's all pretty much the same thing....

    ya think?

I'm not saying you should change it, just that you should keep it in mind when you're trying to figure it out.

For example, I live in a beautiful house, with 6 single bedrooms, plenty of space etc, and I'm paying 79 a week in rent in the academic year, and less than 30 in summer (not including bills). It's been that same price since 2004, and I'm staying another year on the same price.

I would love to move to a place with less housemates, but the cost involved means I can't justify it.

I've a fair few friends from Donegal etc. who are all hoping to move OFF campus next year. Rent on campus is completely out of touch with the national picture, nobody should be paying anything near 100quid a week at the minute.

WOW guys 66% of us are paying more than €100 a week for rent :O

Excuse the pun but that really is weak...

It's now 30% but i think that is still loads... It's maynooth! :(
I know guys in dublin paying just over €100/week

So we can add ''lives at home'' to ''maths nerd'' and ''is on boards.ie''?

For the past year have been paying 100+, which is ridiculous but was stuck at the time. Landlord seemed quite shocked for some reason when we told we knew of people paying only 80 a week in the same estate in better houses later on in the year. She said she thought 100 a week was a far rent.
I dont think she will be getting many takers for next year with that price.
Some landlords need to readjust their thoughts on the whole rent thing.

thinking that the rent we(4 people, two double rooms) was too high last year talking with the landlord trying to reason with him, basically that we could of got a 5bed for just about the same money or about knowing people who paid much lower rent, his response was "hahahaa, yeas, but you'd smell them places before you saw it" basically saw us as students who dont know any better. Don't get me wrong, there was nothing inherently bad about the house and on the whole the landlord was great but this really ground my gears at the time.

but looking at averages people are paying im starting to feel pretty good about what we're paying this year
