Sky+HD on Vista MC

    Hi folks

I was unhappy with the picture quality on the NTL Digital service (SCART-->V-video adaptor-->Hauppauge150-->Vista-->HDMI 1080p) so changed to Sky+ HD (HDMI--> TV, 1080i). The image quality is infinitely better, however the Sky box's GUI is terrible - it's stone-aged compared to Vista's MC GUI.

So today I hooked the Svideo-Out from the Sky+HD box to the Svideo-In on my PC and set Vista up for Dublin-based Sky satellite EPG. However some of the channels just don't match up - eg. Discovery RealTime (250) on Vista's EPG maps to UKTV Food+1 (250) on the Sky box. What gives ?

On top of that, the HD channels are painful to watch in Vista probably because of all the conversion going on. But it would be nice to be able to have Vista as an option for Sky given its great GUI - eg. it lets me search on keywords, set up recordings based on actor names, etc, etc

Am I stuck with the Sky GUI ?

    Frank

    yep!

sky hd box dropped component output last year so even hauppages fancy hd tv converter is uselss as it doesn't have hdmi in.
I think it might be a while for a solution to this becasue of the hangups with hdmi/hdcp still undecided..hdmi..why why why:mad:

    hmmm....

Media Centre has me spoiled. If I had gone straight to Sky without knowing about MC, I'd have been happy.

Is there any way to get the EPG in MC to match that of Sky ? I would then be able to stay with MC albeit non-HD.

Aahhh, getting the MCE EPG to be updated.

Well I tried in the past when I looked initially into TV via MCE, the only option is to post up the inconsistencies over at TGB and hope they can get them resolved quick enough so that Sky doesn't change the channel line up in the mean time.

I tried once upon a time to do this, but in the end gave up as it just took to long, and I was unable to provide a 100% reliable web reference source for them to validate with.

I think the other option is to manually edit/reposition the channels........painful also. Or there is also a more expensive option with tweaking I believe.
