Hat etiquette

I dunno if this has been discussed before but what do people think about wearing hats indoors? I love wearing hats but often feel it's necessary to remove them when I come inside. The only exception is maybe tea cosy-esque hats that are pulled back out of your face. I feel it's similar to my problem with wearing sunglasses when talking to someone even if I am outside... Any thoughts or other hat etiquette issues?

It's a well known fact only rockstars are allowed wear sunglasses inside. I don't mind if someones wearing a hat though, tis up to them.

When in an important building, to show respect, when sitting at a table or just when it's too damn hot.

I always take off my hat indoors, unless there's no safe place to leave it. Busy bar or concert it stays on.

Always take off my hat when greeting a friend.

Never speak to someone I don't know while wearing my hat.

Always tip my hat if I cross someone in a quiet area, or if I pass someone I know or recognise.

Also, never, ever, ever take someone's hat from their head without asking them first. Ever.
Even if you ask, I'll say no. Hats are very personal and aren't shared around casually.

Don't wear my cap if (on that very rare occasion) I'm in a church. Indoors, not always, as it blocks my view of small door frames (and thus get a sore head), but if the door frames are tall (ie: in work) I'd leave it on whilst going to my desk.
