    Guys, I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this post so please move if required.

    I went into the registry files on my pc without setting a restore point first. As a result, I have lost all audio devices (no sound icon where clock is, media player wont play songs "saying it can't find a device or its being used in another program" but its not. The device manager is blank and the PC is driving me nuts. The intial problem was no sound on internet pages and I entered the following registry (with the above consequences):

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32]
    "midimapper"="midimap.dll"
    "msacm.imaadpcm"="imaadp32.acm"

    "wave4"="wdmaud.drv"
    "midi4"="wdmaud.drv"
    "mixer4"="wdmaud.drv"
    "aux3"="wdmaud.drv"

    After saving the file, go to START > RUN > and type 'regedit' and then click OK
    In the registry, select FILE > IMPORT and select the "missing.reg" file from your desktop
    You should get a confirmation that it was imported successfully

    Its my own fault because I know nothing about registry files. I have tried numerous fixes, but none work. Its on XP and I honestly dont know what to do. Everythign is working fine except no sound and media player opens but wont play a song or play sound from youtube etc.. By the way the device manager is also blank, nothing showing up on it watsoever

    please help?
