not sure if this query belongs here but...

i've been away from home (in college) and apparently i recently got a letter indicating that my first provisional is up and i need to apply for my second one. now this letter has been lost/thrown out, my first provisional was up at the end of april, and i'm wondring what i'm meant to do, how i now go about getting my second provisional? I can't continue with driving lessons without the licence obviously. any info would be appreciated..

Go in to your local Motor Tax Office with your first provisional & some form of ID (passport). They will have a record of your driver number on file. You could even bring all the other things (photos, forms etc.) and apply for your new one.

thanks for the help. it doesn't matter that my first learner permit is a bit out of date so? I thought that may have provided a bit of hassle.

oh, also, any idea how long it may take to get the second? Suddenly its acquisition has become rather urgent

If you go to the motor taxation office it will be processed and posted to you in a couple of days maximum.

I recently applied for a full license and it was in the my letter box the morning of the second day after application.

Have a similar question my GF learner permit is up and she doesn't know if she need to do eye-test again? She has to wear glasses when driving.

So do you need to check your eyes when applying for second permit again?

    Thanks in advance

I think you get a slip of paper as a receipt and this covers you as proof that it's in the post (or will be soon). Ask at the Motor tax office, they'll tell you if it covers you to drive or not.

No bother, I thought you're correcting my spelling mistakes or something...

Anyway, your apology is accepted and thanks for the answer, really appreciate that
