Ripped off/Scammed by UK online store - Micro Heaven

    Hi,

There is a online store which goes by the following addresses/names
    http://www.microheaven.co.uk/
    http://www.easyishop.co.uk/
    http://www.easylaptopshop.co.uk/
    http://www.tabletworld.co.uk/
    and now
    http://www.surreystores.co.uk/

I was looking for a specific laptop bag in the Dicota range and shopping at home (ireland) was not successful although a lot of stores tried to get it for me.

So I found it online for 70.66 GBP including posting.

I ordered this via credit card on tht 13 Feb 09. After a week it hadn't arrived so I emailed and rang Micro Heaven. They said it had become lost in the Royal mail post and they would send me another one as soon as their stock was updated. After a few days there was still no sign of it nor could Micro Heaven give me a delivery date. I was pretty annoyed at this stage and asked Micro HEaven, surely their supplier could give them some sort of lead time. At this stage I searched for reviews of Micro Heaven and was very worried with what I found.
There are loads of people who have been dooped if thats even a word by Micro Heaven. Other people have been told their item has been lost in the Royal Mail post. Please note, my credit card was charged within 1 day the 70.66 GBP.
I got worried and contacted Micro HEaven about the bad reviews. They said not to believe them and when I asked for a refund they had no problem and said it would be in my card in 5 working days. After 5 working days there was no refund. At this stage, when I rang Micro Heaven the answering system was gone, and the phone rang and rang and never answered. Email replies started taking a few days. I emailed again stating that my refund had not been received and they said sorry, they have informed accounts and to please wait another 5 days. After two weeks there was still no refund, this was the 26th March 09. I emailed them constantly since but didn't get a reply for weeks.

My last email to them was to informed them I have made a complaint to the European Consumer Centre. Then I got a reply saying

"Micro Heaven have gone into administration, we (Surrey Stores Ltd) have taken over. They have sent emails to their customers regarding this issue, please see this below if you have not already received it.

    Dear Customer,

This email is to regrettably inform you that Micro Heaven LTD has recently gone into administration.
Unfortunately, this means that your order will no longer be fulfilled, however, you are able to claim a refund for your purchase via your credit card company, please contact them directly with the details & they will be able to handle the claim for you.

Any requests for returns need to be sent directly to the manufacturer, if informed of the situation, they will be able to replace the product for you.

The websites under the banner of Micro Heaven have now been purchased by Surrey Stores LTD, who have re-launched them with brand new products. If you still require your item please re-order with Surrey Stores who will fulfill your order within a couple of days.

We hope that your experience with Micro Heaven will not put you off ordering from Surrey Stores in the future & please accept our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience we may have caused to you.

    Warmest Regards,

    Micro Heaven LTD"

So this leaves me out of pocket as far as I can see. ChargeBack to credit card companies need to be done within 60 days of purchase. I lost over30 days requesting the refund and being in correspondance with Micro Heaven. Then I spend the remaining time trying to get in contact with then and figuring out what to do next. I also worked 140 hours in two weeks at that stage too, so I put off my refund for a few weeks. So by the time I raised this with the credit card company I was just outside my 60 days.

Anyway, I thought this post may be of use to people thinking of taking advantage of the sterling and buying online instead from IRL. Be cautious, and look for reviews online of all stores you shop with and do not shop from any of the online stores I mentioned at the top of this email. If they do refund me, I will update this thread.

and.. if you dont'get your order from any shop within 30 days (unless you have a prior arrangement) get onto your credit card company immediatly and keep records of all correspondance.

    regards
    Gem

    Gem,

The liquidator for Micro Heaven LTD sent me a copy of minutes from a meeting about the liquidation of the company (to get a copy yourself, write to jason.henry@tenongroup.com).

Interesting points from the report are that all the assets (including "goodwill") of Micro Heaven LTD were sold to Surrey Stores LDT prior to liquidation, and that the director of both Micro Heaven and Surrey Stores is the same -- one James Nicholson.

Bases on your experience and a similar experience of my own, I would advise against dealing with any company of which James Nicholson is a directory.

    Regards,
    Borden
