    Hi
My sister has just returned from holidays and checked her bank account online(she uses a laser card) and there is a transaction for 200 euro from sometning called moneybank
There was no money in her account when this was presented but the bank paid it out and now she is over 200 euros in the red
She has contacted the bank and has to go to her local branch later to try sort it out
Does anyone know what moneybank is?
How can she prove it was'nt her who did the transaction?
She is a bit worried so is looking for some info before she heads for the bank
    Any help would be appreciated

This doesn't look to ligit, looks like a bit of a money making scheme.

If the tranaction can't be backed up with an instruction from the creditor then you will get the money back.

It is not as easy with laser as it is with a credit card charge back but still the money should be returned. As for the charge for going into the red, this will depend on the banks view of who is at fault.

They'll be asked to produce PIN or signature verification of the transaction. If they can't, then the bank should refund. If it's something that your sister inadvertently signed, or entered her PIN on, then she'll not likely get anything back.

If she's using Laser then as this is a US site it can't accept Laser which means it would have had to use paypal, which meansn if she has a paypal account setup with hetr bank account someone likely used it.

    or

Somebody setup a paypal account with her details which is pretty unlikely

[EDIT] actually looking at the site further it seems they accept bank details so somebody would have had to known her details

She is just back from the bank
It was an online transaction done through her laser card
They are refunding the money and have cancelled and cut up her laser card but will issue a new one
She had to sign some forms but as her bank account was'nt compromised the wont give her a new account number
Can she insist on a new bank account ?
She is just paranoid that if someone has her laser details they may be able to get her bank account details too

Btw she doesnt have a paypal account

There's any number of ways someone could get her laser details, however, there's not a whole lot someone can do with your account details really. If you think about it, when you hand someone a cheque drawn on your account, your number and sort code is on the cheque. If your sister really feels worried that her account details are compromised, then she can close her account and open a new one herself. The bank's fraud unit would be quick to recommend a new account if they felt the situation warranted it, so I'd be inclined to think they feel that the risk is only with the card and not the account itself.

if you reallly need a new account number and they wont give your one tell her to close the account and open a new one there and then

its impossible for them to do this without giving you a new account number

Call the bank ASAP, report Fraud.
They will be able to trace it!
You will receive your money. :)

PS this could be a trip you went on, but it is processed with a different company. Check to see everything that was supposed to be debited did!

    Good luck!
    And keep us posted!
