Starter motor?

Hi there, I'm having trouble starting my 00 fiat. sometimes it will start first go but other times it will take 3 or 4 goes. It sounds like a scratchy sound trying to connect but nothing else happens. Could this be the starter motor? If so, any idea how much it would cost to get replaced?

Worth chancing your nearest brakersyards. About €30-€40

for one second hand. That or get it reconditioned for €60.

It depends wat type of fiat it is...anywhere from €100 to €200 for a new one.
