    Hey all,

Need a bit of advice....getting married late Dec 2010, a friend bought me a wedding magazine and I saw the most gorgeous wedding dress in it, kind of forgot about it for a week or two and opened another book and there it was again, it was everywhere I looked (think it is stalking me!), so I decided to go and try it on (half hoping I wouldnt like it or it wouldnt suit me) but it was gorgeous, better than in the book and now I dont know what to do.....is it too soon to get my wedding dress? Cant forget about this dress!

Personally, I think it is way too early.
I have heard of a few brides buying their dresses more than a year in advance, and of course, with time and new collections coming out: they changed their minds and ended up buying a second dress, or a third dress!
I don't know if they had a budget to start with, but it's quite easy to go mad and to over spend here.
Just keep this in mind: new collections twice a year, body shape might change in all that time, your taste might change, have you picked your wedding theme yet? Is this dress suitable for a winter wedding as all the dresses out at the moment are summer season...
Try to go to as many wedding shops as you can because you will find many other dresses that you love there as well. I can guarantee this to you. This should be a sign that no rush to buy is a good strategy.
Good luck to you, this is a slow and long process.
Unless you know you can be extremely disciplined and not change your mind once the purchase is made, I would really wait and take time to explore many possibilities.
    Have fun!

Hmmmm, understand where you are coming from...getting married in april 2010 and starting the hunt this saturday. One of the shops has a sample sale and the happen to stock the dresses i love (pronovias)..Im kinda afraid ill find a dress i love but buy because of the price. HOWEVER, ive been advised by others that you know when you see the one. If you feel this is the one, wil you be happy not to look at other dresses between now and then? Also, you could also take note of the details of this dress, spend a few months tryin on loads and loads of others, and if you are still happy to come back to this you know its the one!!

    Good luck!

    ps -whats it like?

Simple enough to resolve perhaps: how much time and effort and how far a net have you spread to find your wedding dress. If not much and not far then hold off - you're jumping the gun.

    Hi,
I kinda agree with the ladies. I was tempted to jump in too early an buy too and am glad I didn't! Maybe you should talk to the dress shop about the availability of the dress so you have some idea how long it will be available for? This will allow you a comfort zone in which to shop around without feeling under pressure.
    Good luck!:P

I guess it depends on what sort of person you are and how much the dress costs.
If it's reasonable pricewise and you *love* it and if you're sure you won't change your mind - i.e. if you can put wedding dress thoughts and pictures out of your mind after you buy it then go for it.
If it costs €3k and you will find yourself still looking at dresses afterwards then don't.

How much of the rest of the wedding have you planned? For example, there's no point in buying a heavy winter dress if there's a chance you might change your mind and marry abroad in the sunshine.

Another thought it is that it might be on sale later in the year...

Ring around to make sure the designer will be still making the dress and hold off - you never know what changes you might make between now and then.

I'm getting married in October 2010 and i bought my wedding dress 2 months ago! It was exactly what i was looking for and it was on sale for a price that no bride would never believe and i think its the best thing i did becuase it was my dream dress and im one hell of a picky bride. if it is ur dream i say go for it, what are you going to do when it comes to next year and you cant find another dress like it...u'll be kicking urself. if u do get it dont keep looking at it all the time or it will lose the whole eee feeling of the dress. Ive only tried mine on twice and thats it for a long time...its really a matter of personal choice.
