Hi, I am sorry if this topic has already been posted a load of times but I was wondering if anybody could recommend the best place to get a student travel loan. So far, all I have seen is the BOI offering a loan up to 2k with an interest free period of 9 months. The AIB loans start repayment about 2 months after it is taken out, but they give you an option of only paying off the interest for the first year. I am pretty clueless about loans in general and interest rates etc. Can anybody please give advice or recommendations?
    Cheers

I don't know about travel loan why travel if you are broke? But the best place to get a loan for college is the Credit Union.

Would banks/credit union be willing to offer loans to students just finished first year, to keep them going in 2nd-4th year and paid back when working afterwards?

My dad paid for everything in first year, and would pay accommodation, so a loan to the tune of 10k at the end of this summer is what I'm asking about. Of course if I can split it up it would be the best.

    Thanks.

That would be hard to say mate 10k is a bit much. You will have to prove you have a job and someone that can pay the loan back if you can't. I got a loan in first year < 2k, since I have no parent and no grant I have to work my back side off.

if you want a loan around 10k you have more chance in the back BOI than credit union.
