does the V5 document state the CO2 on it, maybe conntact the dealer to find out.

i would be worried that you get to the VRT office, and the clerk uses the higher figure from the log book, so i would use that as the figure to base my sums on.

my other question, is would you be saving enough on such a basic bog standard car instead of buying over here?

So, the car in euro is €50 short of €12,000 (including a 490 pound straight deal discount). VRT is 3k.

So that's 15k, plus €500 travels costs, that comes to €15.5k.

Drive a hard bargain and get that for 16k.

So , is it worth the hassle, taking time off work, going to the vrt office, having the car in miles, buying number plates etc. for 500euro?

The major reason for buying in the UK is I have the pounds sterling already (worked there until last year and should have bought before I came back!!) but still not sure if it is worth my while travelling, having to register, get new plates etc as you mentioned. As sterling has strengthened a bit over the past couple of months it doesn't look like I'd be saving much/any. Thanks for making me think it over.
