Fireface Midi Out into V Drums

    Hi all,

Long time reader of this forum here...Looking for some specific info this time :)

I have a Fireface 400, with the midi out (and in) going to/from my V-drums. I have no problem taking the signal from the midi in on the fireface, but when I want to play it back through the Td-20 brain, I'm getting nada..nout...zilch...

What I'm doing at the moment is pointing the output to the Midi 1 Out (fairly logical), but I'm getting not a thing.

I'm using Nuendo 3 at the moment (pretty much the same as Cubase). Any of you have any ideas? Any special setup I need to do in Midi Device setup..?
The only problem I thought I'd was was the midi mapping issue...i.e. The closed hats tracks coming out on the open hats track etc...but alas I haven't got that far!

Just to clarify...I can see what I am recording on screen and all that...I just can't hear it!!!

Sorry if this post is incredibly vague, but I'd appreciate any help from someone who might have overcame this stumbling block!

    thanks y'all

    q :)

sorry if these seem like obvious questions but just to check:

    1. midi out of the v-drums to midi in on the interface, and midi out of the interface to midi in on the v-drums?

    2. audio output of the v-drums is connected either back into the DAW or to an external amp/speaker of some sort.

    3. nuendo track has interface midi input as input and interface midi output as output

    4. the nuendo track has the brown monitor circle thing clicked.

    5. Turn "local off" on the v-drums to ensure the midi info is routed through the DAW, not going directly from the drums to the td-20 AND through the DAW (which can cause confusion).

let us know if all this is definitely ok

    Hi ,

Yeah I think all the cables are all in place...I do need to double check the midi settings though in Nuendo...I'll be tipping away at it this evening, so I'll update you then.
Thanks for the input anyway..... ( or is that output!?? Boom boom! :) )

    Sorry.....couldn't resist.......

    q.

Also check MIDI channel, Cubase is probably sending on 1, and the V Drum is probably receiving on 10 (standard for drums). They just need to match, the actual channel doesn't matter.

    Good Point.

    Good Point.

Paul, can you use the Thank You button for this kind of response please?
    That's what it's there for!

I will when I'm thanking a poster - and do. In this instance I'm just agreeing.

That's what the Thanks button is for Paul. It was put in place by Cult to reduce posts which consist of just "+1", or "I agree", or "good post", or "thanks!"

I'd like to keep things more personal if that's ok? I do use 'Thanks' too.

Not really Paul. There's nothing that makes replying with "good point" or "good post" more personal than using the feature that's there for that purpose.

Thanking a post doesn't flag the thread as having a new post. It wastes peoples time when they're checking to see what the newest development/comment in a thread that they're interested in, only for it to be "good point". The Thanks button stops this from happening, and improves the quality of the content in the forum. Please use it.

If you've an issue with it, take it to Help Desk.

Back on topic from here please.
