how many 100m sprints do you think you could do off 1.30, and coming in on less than 1.20?
I was in our long course pool in UL today (50m pool), training by myself, going off a push as opposed to a dive, and I decided to try this out myself. Im a reasonably good masters swimmer, train 3 - 4 times per week, PB for 100m FC is 65.
I was reasonably sure I could do at least 3, but I did not know, so here are the results:
    First 100m: 1.15;
    2nd 100m: 1.19.
    3rd 100m: 1.21.
So I could only do 2!
I will try this again and try to get it up to 3 or 4.
    How many can you do!

1, came in on 1.18 on the first one, nearly dead, and came in on the second on 1.34. More training. It has been a while....:(

its harder than it sounds isnt it! I was sure I could have gotten 3 in anyway....I wander if I did it in a short course pool would it be easier...
Hopefully next time Ill hit it either way!...
I suppose the equivalent for swimming 50ms would be:
how many 50m sprints do you think you could do off 45 secs, and coming in on less than 40 secs?
    (if my maths is right....)
Now that does sound easier, might try that myself next time!
    Cheers!

Yeah you'd have got that 3rd one and possibly a 4th or 5th in a short course pool. Why don't you try taking more rest and keeping under 1.15 for them all? Much harder imo. Just with a time of 65 you could be going faster. :)

yes, I must try that, but one goal at a time, ita now a matter of personal pride, I want to achieve a few sub 1.20s off 1.30 before I look at dong 1.15s with a longer rest.....and I want to do it in our long course pool!
    Must be a masochist!

You shouldn't have too many problems. Getting more under 1.20 is just a matter of fitness.

I tried this again today, was determined to do be able to do more than 2, here are my results:

    1st 100m: 1.16
    2nd 100m: 1.17.
    3rd 100m: 1.17.
    4th 100m: 1.18.
    5th 100m: 1.24.
So I did 4, Im happy with that, much more respectable.

Congrats. Especially on holding to within 1-2 seconds on the 3rd and 4th one. Now get your lazy ass back in the pool and do another 10! :P

    very funny! :pac:
I guess you would want to be at elite level to hold this kind of set and believe me Im nowhere near this nor will ever be!

I dunno. You can improve a bit more on that. Obviously though you're going to be limited by the amount you train. You're never going to be fit enough to be doing 20-30 100s coming in on 1.15 if you're only training 3-4 times a week. That's not to criticise you or anything. If I wasn't in school I'd be struggling to go once a week:pac:

3 - 4 swim training sessions is the most I will get to do - married man, job, kids etc etc, so I think Im doing pretty well to get in this amount of sessions every week as it is.....I know I could improve my performance if I did 5 - 6 sessions per week but that aint gonna happen.
