hazards or indicators not working

    Hi,

I drive a 00 Golf 1.4 and recently I noticed that when I was using the indicators they would stop blinking after 30 seconds, then eventually 10 seconds.
Now they are not blinking at all, if I take a left or right and the hazards. This morning, I noticed that the wiper stop half way through a wipe and may not stop at all.

Any ideas on what this is, I left it into a garage a few hours ago and I am afraid that they may charge extortinate amount for fixing it.

I drive alot at night and if I dont fix it soon, the cops will be onto me so someone will drive into me.

    Any ideas??

Battery flat? Alternator giving up the ghost?
Check charging of the Alternator with all elec accessories on you should have ~13.8v

Hazard light switch on the Golf controls the indicators as well. I had one go on my Octavia - was replaced under warranty so no idea on cost, wouldn't have thought it's too much to replace though.

Haven't a clue on the wiper issue though.

Haard light switch is only about €20 or thereabouts, not a whole lot anyway. Had to replace one on an Octaiva too but the part is the same.

op you should always get a price before work is carried out and if they find anything else get them to call you before carrying out the work. hopefully it wont hit you too hard.

Common enough fault on most VWs.

At a guess, I'd say the wiper problem is a separate problem unless there is a wring fault to the combi switches on the steering column.
