    Hi All,

I have just got a quote for a wedding in Boyne Hill house, it seems really good but I can't find anything about it on the Internet, could someone give me some feedback with regard to the house as a venue for a reception?

    Thanks

Hi there, just wondering if you have checked out the venue? If so does it live up to the website? :)

Hi guys, just wondering if anyone has visited Boynehill House. What their opinions are and anyone know if there actually has been any wedding booked in the place?

What kind of quote have yu got for this place if you don't mind me asking? Didn't even know it existed and the website does look pretty good. What numbers are you catering for? Thanks in advance :)

I haven't got one yet so that's what I was askinhg about for. Was chatting to someone else who said they were looking for about E80 per head for a five course meal and wine can be brought in. Anything up to 100 bottles will not incur a corkage charge.

    Sorry I wasn't much help

    Hi,

I had my wedding at this venue 3 weeks ago.FAB venue!Food was great! Staff so professional.Absolutely idealic place for something so special as a wedding.
We got married in the gardens outside(were very lucky with the weather) and had our reception inside.
I would highly reccomend this venue. We were the second wedding they had but i have a feeling they will be very busy in the future

Judging from my dealings with Boyne Hill House I would be very wary about booking a function at this venue. My advice is CAVEAT EMPTOR!

I did a wedding there recently and was very impressed with the place. The ceremony was outside in the gardens and the grounds were really nice for photos.

I can give the thumbs up to Boyne Hill House, I had my wedding there 7 weeks ago. Its a beautiful venue, we also had an outdoor ceremony, the food was absolutely fantastic with massive portions and the staff were brilliant. The two managers were so professional, they made sure everything went perfectly smoothly, all the staff were great in fairness.

Its a lovely relaxed atmosphere up there, having it all to yourself is really nice, the day after the wedding my nieces and nephews played hide and seek in the mansion house after which they used the big tv in the drawing room for their wii. Our guests were full of praise for the place, everyone loved it, I really couldn't fault it

    Hi wclarke20,
I had business dealings with Boyne Hill House during 2011. To say I found the experience unsatisfactory would be quite an understatement. I would not wish anyone to have a Boyne Hill House experience similar to mine on their wedding day.
I am glad to hear that others have had a positive experience at Boyne Hill House. I still say Caveat Emptor.

    Hi kelly70,
We looked at Boyne Hill House and really liked it-thinking of booking it for our wedding next year. Worried now after reading your post. What happened to make it so bad, can you give me some details?

I went to see the venue yesterday, I thought the manager was very pleasant and I quite liked the straightforward approach to pricing.
I love the no corkage aspect and the menu looks good and quite different from your usual fare. Apparantly they do two tastings per year but the next won't be until early 2012.
The gardens and cottages are absolutely fabulous, everything is so clean and tidy.
My biggest concern is the size of the dancefloor, it's tiny and I'm looking at 150 people (with a lot of big rugby players!) who love to dance so i'm not sure it will work for me.
Has anyone had/planning a large wedding there yet?

PS Kelly Can you PM me too please

as far as I know, the dancefloor can be extended a lot more. They have more of it out the back.

I think that's what we're doing. We have 150 people approx too.

Hi, we are getting married in Boyne Hill house next year and the dance floor is a huge concern to me too!! Has anyone who got married there any reassurance? Would the band be better upstairs?

    Hi

I went to a wedding there recently. I loved the grounds and the bar for arrival drinks.

I didnt like that there was no bar or bathrooms where we had the meal. The room was a little small (wedding was about 150). The service was very slow and food was not great - some of the tables towards the front had finished their meal and we were only on mains.

The dancefloor was fine for the numbers as everyone was not up dancing all the time but there didnt appear to be enough seats etc for everyone downstairs. I presonally didnt like all the moving from different rooms.

The bedrooms for the guests were not all ensuite (we were not told while booking). Rooms at 150 and sharing a bathroom is a little steep.

Saying all that we had a ball at the wedding and you cant please everyone!

Thanks for the reply. Thats crazy about the ensuite we weren't told that either have just paid the deposit so no going back now!!!

We went to see it, love the mansion house but were told we couldnt have the wedding party there for the champagne reception. The new part really isnt done up nice, its quite small up stairs and not in keeping with the mansion house.

However the Manager seemed lovely, the garden was beautiful and the price seemed good enough.

We have decided against it in the end.

Hi all, i am in love with this venue. The only thing I am worried about is space. Our numbers are at 150 which is the max for the reception. Just wondering if anyone has had there wedding there with these numbers or have you been to a wedding there with this many guests and how was it??
Would love your feed back as i am keen to get my venue booked.
    Thanks ;)

Hi Kelly70, could you pm me about boyne hill house also? A little worried now reading this thread, as we've booked it and also were not told that some of the rooms arent ensuite - and people are going to have to pay the same price to share a bathroom. Not too impressed...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,242 ✭✭✭liliq

I think we were told all of the rooms were en suite... have it booked for November this year.
They're not yet approved for HSE civil cermemony though, so hoping that won't be an issue!

We saw it and liked it big concern I had at the time (they hadn't had any weddings at that stage) was how well the downstairs would work for dancing and how the paved floor in the bar would hold up to a few weddings with booze all over it.

hi, i had my wedding there and was surprised when some of my guests told me they had to share a bathroom and yet they were paying the same rate so maybe you could ask for discount on these rooms

just booked there as well. really was impressed with the location but was also unaware that some of the rooms had to share a bathroom. still love it though.

Boyne Hill House Estate please do not post on Boards again until you have contacted the guys in the office about a verified rep account. This is required for all business accounts on boards. The e-mail address is reps@boards.ie

Would it not be better to put whatever gripe you have/had with Boyne Hill House on here instead of PM'ing people??

At the very least it will give the hotel the opportunity to respond to whatever problem you had instead of making this look like a witch hunt against a business starting out in the game.

It's just that you have had 7 posts on Boards in total and all of them were to have a go at this particular hotel so it is a little strange that you would go to the bother of registering and then having a one man/woman campaign to bad mouth them. WHether you are right or wrong is neither here nor there but out of respect you should give the hotel the right of reply.

I'd also like to point out that apart from photographing a wedding there I have absolutely NO business or personal connection to the hotel or any of it's employees whatsoever. :)

I agree with Ballyman, what ever has to be said will have more credibility if it was said publicly. I want to know what ever it is, however I wonder why it can not be made public.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3 Bruce51

I too have no connection with Boyne Hill House. I have asked Kelly70 to PM me with the details. I was surprised with the message as it has nothing to do with the Hotel, weddings, food drink etc. Its a personal gripe over money she has.

However i do think this is damaging the Hotels credibility.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5 MrsSla2b

Bruce 51 when are you getting married there? The only interest I have in them is that they are my fave wedding venue. The treatment I have received from them to date has been more than exceptional, so I am extra curious as to what Kelly 70 has to say. There are not alot of reviews on Boyne Hill on the net, but anything I have come across to date has been positive.

I agree that kelly70 should put across her problems with the boyne estate publicly rather than private message. How else are they supposed to defend themselves???

Hi there, does anyone have any current reviews for Boyne Hill, particularlythe food. I am concerned that you cannotdo a tasting prior to booking?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,242 ✭✭✭liliq

We are getting married there in 5 weeks. So far they have been absolutely amazing. They are great for doing weekends/ evenings where the whole place is set up as it would be for a wedding so you can see exactly how it will be, they do taster nights which we went to and the food was just delicious, they have replied to emails/ phone calls very promptly and are generally lovely lovely people to deal with.
I'll post again in a few weeks and let you know how the day goes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5 susankfarrell

Thanks a million, that would be great. I really was excited about the venue, my only concern was the food. Have a fantastic day and looking foward to hearing about it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,242 ✭✭✭liliq

Just a quick update on how the wedding went.
I seriously can't rate them enough. I cried leaving because I didn't want to not have a reason to go back! The whole day was brilliant, everyone commented on how gorgeous the venue was, how lovely all the staff were, how good the food was... Our baker thought the wedding was the next day so our cake was late getting there, but one of the fab wedding co-ordinators had it sorted before eve coming to tell me what had happened.
I won't rave on, but I would 100% recommend Boyne Hill House to anyone and hope some of my friends decide to get married there so I can go back again!

Just some feedback on our November wedding. Boyne Hill House was the most fantastic venue. Michael and Caroline just couldn't do enough for us. Everyone loved the individuality of the venue, the picnic basket starter, the grounds and complemented the staff on how friendly they were. The dance floor was no issue for a wedding of 90 it was full all night long with the fantastic band Goodfellas. The venue offered a wonderful alternative to the typical hotel wedding. We had the most amazing time and I'd recommend the venue to anyone. Lots of my friends commented that they want to steal the venue for their own weddings!
