Anyone any tips or info on how to sight in a .22 quickly,
normally what i would do is draw around a cd on a white sheet of paper and adjust the sights that way but its a bit of a nuisance, i end up clearing the county of rabbits before i get into a field, is there a way of doing it without firing a shot, ie laser of sum sort.
any help or tips would be great,

Start at close range (say, 25 yards).

Place rifle on benchrest; remove bolt; move rifle until you can see the target down the bore of the rifle; adjust sights so that they agree with what you're seeing through the bore; then replace bolt, fire a shot. You won't be where you think you'll be, but you should be close enough to do the rest of the adjustments more quickly.

Please pay far more care than usual to backstops when doing this as you're far less sure of where the round is going to go.

The quick answer is no. Boresighters will put you on the paper alright but you invariably need to complete the sighting in by firing the gun. Also, if this is a new rifle you will need to find out what sort of ammo your rifle shoots the best.
So for your first outing you should try shooting a couple of 25M & 50M groups to see which ammo is best for your gun then choose which brand you will zero for.
The next time you go out you can get straight down to business with the rabbits.

    As above

On an A4/A3 size paper put a 1" black circle. Best at the top of the paper as the bullet will drop.

    1 - Bore sight @25/50 yards/meters that black circle.
2 - Without moving the gun using the scope turrets move the cross hairs to the centre of the black circle.
3 - Fire one round at the black circle
4 - Holding the rifle steady don't move it at all and with the cross hairs still on the centre of the black circle move the cross hairs on to the bullet hole on the paper
5 - Aiming again at the black circle fire a second round - you should now be hitting that black circle or very near to it.
6 - Adjust the cross hairs again on to that second bullet hole.
repeat until all your bullets are on target, simple.

2 shots and the scope is zeroed.

Try to zero with as little wind as possible too.
