Staying on in Australia

My sister got a 2 year work visa in 2007 and just to be different and unique she went to Australia with a few buddies etc. Now that was in Nov. 2007 and her visa is up this November but she wants to stay on..but she cant get proper info where she is as everyone has different stories

As she is bone lazy she expects us to find out what the story is..and my mother is harassing me to find as I have easy and quick access to the internet.

So basically how does she stay on? We would all love her to stay there as she would only be coming back here to go on the dole.

ps..in tandem with her laziness all she did was some bull**** childcare study course with a VEC after Leaving Cert (she is 23 now)and she was worked in one menial job to another in Sydney. At the moment she is doing barwork..so she was no qualifications.

    Cheers.

looks like unlikely she will get a permanent residency or even sponsorship visa. The student visa is very expensive so looks like a de facto/spouse visa if she is in a relationship with an Australian resident.

btw if she is out of ireland 2 yrs its unlikely she will get the "dole"(jobseekers benifit). She would probably have to try for the jobseekers allowance which is means tested.

Would she maybe head to NZ?

Cheers, no she is actually going out with some Irish guy so thats out.

I take it she wont get sponsered as she is only doing barwork and has no skills that are in short supply.

What are the main cirteria for applying for permanent residency? and would she have to go through the same process for getting in NZ?

at the moment for permanent res she would need to have a skill on the csl (which seems unlikely) otherwise if she did met the points (unlikely) she would be looking at a long wait. state sponsorship is a possibility but again I have doubts she would have enough work experience. What does her boyfriend do? perhaps he could apply for residency and she could be his de facto?

Alot of migration agents will give a one off gratis meeting. Perhaps she could have a chat with one of them to see if there are any possibilites.

Cant answer about NZ but maybe a whv for NZ is a possiblilty for another year away.

    In short she's fuxored.

Trust me mate I know a hell of a lot about Aus Visas. She's coming home unless she wants to try for a Kiwi Visa.

She has the option of sponsorship, that's it. That said she needs to be on the skills list.

I take it you mean sponsership via her employment?

I take it bar work is not on the skills list?

what happens if she decides to stay on illegally, gets a cash paid job, and then in, say, nov 2010 she decides to come home for what ever reason. would the immigration just ship her home if she was caught before then? would she ever be allowed back into oz for a holiday? would she face any penalty in ireland?

if we're going down that road, I'd suggest she rob a bank to fund herself for the duration of her stay .

DIAC have softened their stance on illegals but it's still not recommended at all.

Sorry mate if she cant be Arsed to look up how to stay she has no hope it completing the paperwork to do so even if she by some miracle finds a route to PR.

Any direct recommendations on someone I could chat with about my own situation without incurring a fee?
