Even poor weather couldnt keep a good thing down last saturday, with all 3 shedueled Carnegie League matches going ahead albeit with one shifted to Tullamore. The game of the Tullamore Knights Vs the Dublin City Exiles was a suprise result to everyone except the Knights. Tullamore had shaken the monkey of last year straight of their back when they defeated the Exiles 34 to 22 in a rain soaked effort in Tullamore.

    Final Score: Knights 34 - Exiles 22

The Treaty City Titans went some way to erasing the 24 to 8 belting they recieved from Carlow in last years Carnegie League final by exacting revenge on the North Dublin Eagles. The Titans ran out eventual winners after trailing on the scoreboard 8 points to 10 at half time, However straight after the break they found form in apalling conditions and managed to rack up 5 unanswered tries whilst the Eagles poor ball handling and poor discipline saw 2 players in the sin bin at the same time and more dropped balls than a ten pin bowling alley on a friday night. The Titans stayed composed and took advantage which saw them run out eventual winners.

    Final Score: Titans 46 - Eagles 16

From the first blow of the whistle players on both sides of Laois and Carlow were hyped up with the play staying in the centre of the field for the first 10 minutes when the Crusaders final broke through the Panthers defence for the first points of the game missing goal.

It didn't take long for the Panthers to reply down the left hand side of the field when the backs put Mark Sherlock in position using tremendous upper body strength taking five Crusaders over the line to score the Panthers first try and R Gee adding the 2 points.

The next 25 minutes saw some good football was produced by both sides with the Crusaders scoring 2 tries and with one successful kick for goal. Half time score 6 - 14

It didn't take the 2008 champions long to find their stride and open up the score line with two tries in succession giving them a 14 point lead 6 - 20.

With determination the Panthers back played some good football with drives from Clive Gee, Shane Reilly and D Bigney put Panther R Pearson over the line with the Goal missed (10 - 20).

Followed by more impressive play the point difference was closed when G Delaney from the Panthers scored out on the wing after a high ball was kicked by R Gee. Goal; missed (14- 20)

The Crusaders then took control of the game opening the points difference with 1 penalty, 2 tries and two kicks for goal handing the Crusaders a first up win.

    Final Score: Carlow 34 - Panthers 14

All teams have a bye this weekend as most players will be looking to support Leinster in that other Rugby code.

Thankyou to all involved on Saturday especially our Referees. Dave Southern, Jeremy Kemp, Jason Craughwell and Touch Judge Dave Lavery. Also a big thankyou to Laois Panthers for hosting the day with special mention to Dave and Nancy Wigmore for all the preperation leading up to the day, even bad weather didnt cover up all their hard work.
