    Hi all,

It has come to our attention that you competitor is using bad business practice to obtain business.

In a nut shell he has people on the dole going into company's and on site(their not insured) to get business. The person or persons as I think there is up to 3 people are on the dole and he supplements there wages by around 200 Euro a week.
So he now has a lower cost base and can give quotes lower than we can.

Legimate businesses like ours cant compete with those prices.

    What can we do?
This is a fairly respected business in it business area

People on the Dole are allowed to claim up to 2 days a week where they work the other 3 days in the week so the fact they are on the dole does not a whole lot of difference. The problem arises in what the limit of wages they can earn a week before their dole is cut off. I have long ago left DSCFA so cant remember what the limits are.

With regards insurance there isnt a whole lot you can do, there is no legal requirement to have insurance as far as I know, perhaps you could add a small tag on your adverts saying "fully insured" or something similar.

Well you can do two things. You can report them for working while recieving social welfare.
Speak to your local social welfare officer.

And two you can talk to Joe. Call 1850 715 815 for more details.

Apart from that theres not a lot more you can do.

I thought the main requirement for been on the dole was that you must not be working at all and must be available for work if required??

No its your not working for the period your signed on so you get paid for 2 or 3 days instead of 6 (cant remember exactly but see below)

    Jobseekers Allowance:
You must be unemployed to get Jobseeker’s Allowance. However, you may get a proportion of your Jobseeker’s Allowance if your days at work are reduced or if you can only get part-time or casual work. Income from work will affect the amount of Jobseeker’s Allowance you get. Find out more about how income from work is assessed for Jobseeker’s Allowance.

    Jobseekers Benefit:
To qualify for Jobseeker's Benefit you must:

    * Be unemployed (you must be fully unemployed or unemployed for at least 3 days in 6)

Both of the above available on www.welfare.ie

    Cant fight fire with fore.

Stoop to their level and they beat you with experience.

these guys on the dole are working 5 days a week. Sales guys and they are not recieving any sales commission on their deals.

    Bad business.
We have since found out alot of information about the employees in the their business.
    He pays them with expenses.
you are entitles to approx 15Euro a day expenses without reciepts so he passes this onto his employees aswell.so they are all paying min wages, not paying the correct PRSI,PAYE tax and the employees are on a tidy sum
    expenses, dole and min wages.

You could report them to revenue too, they take this kind of practice very dimly.

How do you know this? If someone told you and they are affecting your business, report them!

Always be clean and above board. Karma is killer in business. I don't think that there is much you can do. It's up to the authorities to catch them.

However, be very careful if you report them, because if they are legit you could get yourself into trouble.

Emmm who would he get in trouble with, he is merly telling revenue / social welfare of his suspicions that X is happening. They will investigate the issue if they find nothing to back it up then thats the end of the matter. Noone will know who reported the issue to revenue initially as that information is kept confidential.

I'd definitely report that carry on, the countries in enough of a mess without people screwing the social welfare system. IMO the people should loose entitlements to future dole for doing so and the company should be heavily fined for encouraging the black market.
