Mods, i know you'll move if Im in the wrong place.

    Hi All,

I had on old CRT plugged straight into the ntl box in the wall, im on basic channels package (no digital tuner box just the cable from the wall).

So i went out and bought myself a new fancy Plasma off the internet. Get it home, only 3 channels tune int (used to be 12!).

What i've now realised is that my tv doesn't have VHF Tuner and i can't get any of the channels.

Would anybody have any suggestions as to how I could get the stations?!

Im ragin with myself but had absolutely no idea there were different frequencies....ARSE!

Get Digital, The cheapest digital package is the same or cheaper than analogue these days. You still get analogue and the digital will work with your new TV. :)

If you have a VCR you could plug the cable into it and hook the VCR up to the tv using a scart lead.

You then tune the vcr to the cable. You can then watch the channels you already have. You just use the VCR to change channels.

    Or you could go digital
    Hope this helps

    I didn't think of that. :o

I would think digital is actually the cheaper option. IIRC, the basic digital is €20 vs. €24.50 for analogue. You would actually save money getting digital.

Hi! Just on this - Are you saying the VCR has an in-built VHF Tuner?

    Mr Bongos,

You'd be mad not to get digital. It's the only way to get proper widescreen on your nice new plasma, there's all the channels you had before plus many more, it's cheaper, and analog is on the way out anyway. All is not lost :)

Also the analogue will look rotten on the PLasma

though some of the Digital channels won't be great either.

You should consider Satellite as it has some HD channels. You can get about 4 free HD channels and about 45 decent ordinary channels free with no Sky sub. It's not mutually exclusive to having a cable sub..

    Is this definate?
Its possible there is a 'country' setting in the TV's set-up menu, if there is select Ireland instead of UK?

If it's a UK Panasonic plasma, then it won't have a country setting option unfortunately.
