    i have a 1 ecu coin apparently it was the rival to the euro but the euro won and only a few wer made anybody know about this

    Yes, I do, if you post a photo and approx diameter measurement I'll tell you exactly what it is and it's value. There were many different types, only certain ones had a low mintage. Some were official, most were unofficial. It all depends what you have.

    ECU coin is 1.5 inches across has the writing deneder landen 25 ECU 1990 on one side and on the other it has heac arma strenuites severitas benignitas gerard zerbolt van zutphen geert groote.

    Not to worry, it's a German fantasy pattern of private manufacturer commemorating the various countries in the ECU which was an artificial basket currency from '79 till it was replaced by the Euro in '99. The one you have is a generic one and not country specific so less desirable. These were made in solid silver and also cupro nickel silver plated, if you have the silver one it will have a mark of some sort, usually 999 or 925. Not worth much more than it's silver content I'm afraid.
