Unlike the Derby this is full of English horses at the top of the betting with Sariska favourite after her performance last week. I dont know, I didnt find it that impressive to have her 3-1 fav.

Rainbow View flopped in the 1000 Guineas and there must be doubts if she is as good as last year. Gosden had no excuses for that run so I am avoiding her as well.

Midday @ 6-1 ticks all the right boxes - there are few better trainers with fillies than Henry Cecil. He has won the Oaks around 3 or 4 times and Midday looked very good in the Lingfield Oaks trial and I think she is the one to beat.

Gosden blamed the ground for RVs poor run.
If she stays which on breeding she will well i think shell win.She travelled well to a point in the guineas but her turn of foot shown as a 2 year old seemed not to be der which suggests to me that she possibly wants a trip..
I`m on at 6s which i think is a massive price.

    Oaks

RAINBOW VIEW by DYNAFORMER (dam by NUREYEV)
I think she is a doubtful stayer. There is a lot of speed in her pedigree.

SARISKA by PIVOTAL (dam by MUHTARRAM)
Pivotal sired the sprinter Kyllachy out of a Song mare. With Sariska the dam side of the pedigree is stouter: sires Muhtarram (4th in Derby); High Top (sire of Oaks winner Circus Plume; St Leger winner Cut Above); Blakeney (Derby winner); Acropolis (full brother to great stayer Alycison).

Her times are not good. Although neither Pivotal or Muhtarram have featured in the pedigree of an Oaks winner I think this filly has a chance.

BEAUTY O'GWAUN by RAINBOW QUEST (dam by SADLER'S WELLS)
I think this filly will have a big chance if she lines up. She has a good staying pedigree. John Oxx has said he will probably not run her as she is inexperienced.

CUIS GHAIRE by GALILEO (dam by DANEHILL)
Difficult to assess. She ran well in the 1000 Guineas. She has run three times at 6f and might not last 12f.

FANTASIA by SADLER'S WELLS (dam by DARSHAAN)
Good form, fast times, and a class pedigree. The sprinter Blue Duster (Queen Mary; Princess Margaret; Cheveley Park; Haydock Park Sprint Cup) as her second dam is a slight worry on stamina grounds, but she was high class. She is 75s on Betfair so I’m guessing she won’t run.

The Oaks looks like a poor race this year. The Derby looks much stronger.

    My Guess
    1. Fantasia (doubtful)
    2. Beauty O'Gwaun (doubtful)
    3. Sariska
    4. Rainbow View

Regarding Sariska... Jamie Spencer had listed her as one of his ten to follow a while ago. I was impressed with her run in the Fred Darling, even though she only finished 4th. She missed the break and raced at the back before switching to the rails and running on without even being hit. Another furlong and she'd have won. Her win at York last week impressed me. I couldn't believe she was 3/1 (or 100/30) at the off. She had the favourite beaten a long way out. Once she got alongside the subsequent second horse, she was given a slap by Spencer for the first and only time in her life. Her reaction was to pull away, and it took another 2 or 3 furlongs before Spencer sould pull her up. I get the feeling she's a really tough little filly. The winning time wasn't fast, but I get the feeling she can tough out any pace. She's bred to stay further than the 10f she won at (her half-sister stayed 1m6f) and that's evident by the fact that she didn't want to stop after the post. All of that was on ground they didn't think she'd cope with - fast. Apparently she prefers a little more cut. She ticks all the right boxes for me.

Good race. Thought Midday was unlucky - she got checked twice down the straight when making a move which cost her the race. That said the winner was very tough.
