    Hi

My sister has a 99 Fiat Punto and it's going to need a bit of work to pass the NCT - probably more then the car is worth. At the minute, the car is off the road because of brake problems. :( She is looking to replace the car and is looking at something like a 02 Corsa that should cost her about €2,500.

The thing is, what can be done with the Punto. It can't be sold on so a dealer would hardly buy it from her. I was thinking about selling it to a breakers but not sure if these give you much for a car these days.

    Any help greatly appreciated!

    Thanks :)

Trade it in to the dealer, make it a condition of the sale.

Don't expect any value for it, but they'll get rid of it much easier than you.

You don't think a breaker will pay for it?

Ask your Council what local breaker deals with Fiat, and call them. They may give you money if you can get the car to them, but might expect to be paid if they have to collect.

if you doubt that you'll get money for it, post an ad on gumtree or other similar free site and just say that you want to get rid of it, and it's not in great condition etc. Maybe try looking for €200 then if no bites, offer for free, and someone will come and get rid of it for you. That's what I did and got huge response, way more than I expected. I could have gotten rid of it ten times!! be sure to send the log book off yourself tho to avoid them screwing you over with fines etc!
