Long/short bob

I really want to get a bob next time I get my hair cut but not sure exactly what to ask for as I have quite a round face so I don't want it to make me look fat! I'm thinking lots of choppy layers for volume and maybe a sideswept fringe. I really really like this but not sure if it would suit me:

I would normally just go in and let the hairdresser hack away, but when you go that short you have to be careful cos you're stuck with it for a while and I'd hate to get an awful haircut and not even be able to tie it up etc! Does anyone have any pics of this sort of thing? I'll try to post a pic later when I get home to give an idea of my face shape.

    Hey there

I got a cut quite similar a few weeks ago, its longer at the front but short at the back and you can either mess it up with a bit of wax or wear is sleek. I love it :) Id recommend you head into house of colour on wellington quay, I go to a girl called Sinead and she chatted to me for ages to make sure she knew exactly what I wanted, she cut it exactly how I wanted it :)

  • Hey,
Cool thanks. Do you find it high maintenance, like do you have to blowdry it a certain way and all that? I'm pretty lazy so I wnt

Short to medium bob works for most as long if hair not absolutely dead flat, especially if cut brisk and choppy up the centre back and "fringe" left fairly long. Make sure you run your hands through your hair as it is being cut - you will know the feel of how much weight you want in your hair as a lot of stylists over-thin the hair by chopping down into the layers, seems to be the done thing at the minute. If this happens your hair may end up looking limp and flat even if not too short, or worse still getting those looney sticking up bits at the rear crown. Good cutters will respect you running your hands through during the cut - you will be amazed at how much you can tell without even looking.

  • Thanks - I'll try to describe that to them. My hair is very, very fine so it looks so flat and lifeless if not cut in a certain way. The problem I usually have is the hair is wet during the cut and it's so hard to tell what it's going to look like when it's dry! I just have this fear of getting a horrible cut and being stuck with it for ages haha.
