    Hi all,

For anyone who may be doing this now, could anyone tell me what the hourly/daily rates are these days (ballpark figure) to contract IT staff to support:

    - an IT helpdesk (supporting Windows XP users, printing issues, Office 2007 - the usual things a helpdesk encounters really)
    - a Windows 2003 domain (so user account issues, network shares, backups etc)

    Cheers!

That's for employees, where the employer is also paying PRSI, providing supervision, etc etc.

For contracting it would still be quite a bit more, but I don't know how much.

Level 2-3 would be 200-250 a day up to this year...All bets are off now..Some roles would be gone down to 120-140 a day.Simply because they can do it...

Is it all helpdesk related or is there any end user work?

Well there would be a requirement for deskside visits if needed (not all issues could be resolved by logging-in remotely). Also a need to setup/install new PC's when needed.

Yeah I realise that with regard to resolution of issues.Just from what you had said it wasnt clear if there was a helpdesk and a deskside team...Have you started it yet??

About 300euro per day depending on the organisation. Assuming a 12 month contract.

yup, i'd be aiming for 250-300 per day minimum. Who gives a **** if its a recession, it dosen't mean they can pay us like a bunch of monkeys !

Would be great to get that..But from role described I wouldnt think so..IMO..Even during good times..I have done similar to better roles myself and not got that high..Went as far as 220...

Actually no, in the "good times" as you put it, 300 would be at the low end for a direct contractor. You might have got it cheaper if you went through a large outsourcer like IBM, but not by much.

200 is low if the person would be alone, but would be at the high end if they were part of a 1st/2nd tier team.

I suspect you dont have many staff as it appears you are looking to price a Jack of All Trades.

Depends on your skill set but i wouldnt snub anything at the moment still though contracting you wanna be looking for 200 min , but its slim pickins at the moment i have been contracting for 3 years now after nearly 6 years permanent and done about 4 different contracts , some jobs i was getting 300 some 150 , its all depends on the company, at the moment im working for 200 a day but i dont see any other jobs out there so triyng to prolong this one for as long as possible.

    Really?

There are a few obvious ones in Longford that I didn't take and they are paying 300per day for some of the more "simple roles". FACT
