I thought I'd publicly congratulate myself on my first miserable-but-fun longish day in the saddle.

76km (a lunchtime ride for some of ye, but a big deal for me), first time up Stocking Lane, first time to Sally Gap, and first time getting absolutely properly saturated and freezing on the bike.

Fun though!

Well done.

I did about 20k on Saturday against a stiff head wind then turned back when it started to rain!! It just wasn't proving to be much fun.

WELL DONE!!

Seriously, those are some milestones to be proud of - particularly your first time over a mountain gap. Doing it is the rain adds bonus points too.

Next target is the century is presume?

for your first time going up stocking lane you did very well to keep going up to the sally gap, that route up by loch bray is a surprise as you round out those tree's of steepness. Nearly fell off me bike the first time i turned the corner
