    Hi guys

I was wondering does anyone know of any way to avail of the bike to work scheme if your company isn't taking part in it?

I'm not surprised really, plenty of companies still don't take part in the taxsaver scheme for travel tickets - not worth the hassle apparently for the extra admin involved. My own company won't offer annual tickets, presumably for cashflow reasons.

Hassle them politely but repeatedly! Worked for me. Mention to them about the biketowork.ie people who help with the admin of the scheme too. Plus get other people to ask too, rather than you being the only cyclist in the village.

This is the thing they're usually very good with these things.

especially with health, pay for full gym memberships etc so I'm really surprised and we're a pretty big company so they would make plenty of savings on prsi etc

Find a journalist -- theres one round here -- that will ring your HR department and ask them why they aren't supporting the bike to work scheme -- :). That may help.

Could they be about to fold/close?

That's always a possibility but there's no real indication that's the case.
