Does anyone know where a beginner can go to take up hang or para gliding? And how much do these sort of sports cost to try??

I've been trying to find a hang gliding school here in Ireland in the past, but seems we are out of luck here. There is (or there was) one school on Mt Leinster, but it hasn't been taking new students for quite a while.

As for paragliding, there are at least 2 schools: in Bray (http://www.paraglideadventure.com/) and in Tipperary (http://www.midlandparagliding.com/).

You can check out the IHPA website as well: http://www.ihpa.ie

There are some hang gliding schools in French Alps that teach in English, set is some fantastic locations. I've been trying to get there for the past few years, but never actually got a chance.

Just found the Ulster Hang Gliding & Paragliding Club: http://www.uhpc.co.uk

Could not find where exactly in NI they are located, but should still be reachable by car anyway.
