Glad to hear it Brendan, I didn't see you put a foot wrong all night, but as you say, thats poker! Don't forget the league final is this Sunday in the Meadowview, Cavan. Its a €70 freeze-out (€60+€10 reg) and you are now eligible to play it as you played on Tuesday. Theres €500 added to the prize-pool and i'm expecting at least 60 to 70 runners (so about €4,500 in prize money).

We'd a an epic finish to our League tonight in the Oldcastle House Hotel:

Mickey Preston finished 3rd in the tournament, thus losing out on winning the league by a mere 100 points! Pat O'Brien becomes the first player to win back to back League trophies with an overall score of 10,800 points, to Mickeys 10,700.

34 players tonight generated a prize-pool of €1,840. This game was a fundraiser for the Mount Nugent GFC. The game raised €660 for the club.

    1st: €700 (Steve Neale)
    2nd: €350 (Ronan Caffrey)

Nice one Mick. Can't beat a good auld league to keep the competition alive!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,610 ✭✭✭big_iain

    Iain Cheyne
    Hazel
    Tom Ryan
    Paddy
    Plus 5 other randoms.

Although i think i will chop and come second. to Hazel.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 713 ✭✭✭Mr. Wolf

Close guess Iain; Tom and Paddy went out 12th and 14th, Iain finished 9th and Hazel didn't make it to the last 3 tables unfortunately.

    We'd 51 players which generated a €3,060 prize-pool, plus the €500 added bonus made a total of €3,560:

1st and 2nd chopped when it got to heads up so the pay outs went as follows:

1st: €950 (Dave 'The Tiger' Thompson)
    2nd: €950 (Mark Beckett)
    3rd: €400 (Shane Cassidy)
    4th: €300
    5th: €250
    6th: €200
    7th: €160
    8th: €120
    9th: €100
    10th: €80

    Best Hand: €50 ticket

Sorry Mick completely forgot about this game, was too busy comforting (slagging) malcolm in his hour of need (Newcastle getting relegated) :D.

    Great turnout for the game.

The guy who came 2nd, Mark Beckett, is he a young lad from Enniskillen direction?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 713 ✭✭✭Mr. Wolf

Thats him Rod, there must be something in the water up there, Marks played 7 tourneys, cashed in 6, won 3 and come 2nd in 2.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 106 ✭✭Hot-Rod

Its not the water Mick, I taught him how to play every lunch when i used to work in Asda in Enniskillen :D. Good poker school in there, at least 5 good player work in there. You never seen poker moves like it all in vain of winning £10  and bragging rights for the next day.

Nah Mark is a good wee player, solid plus excellant at reading players.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 713 ✭✭✭Mr. Wolf

You're not wrong there, he came to the final table as the shortest stack and to be honest he should have won it out. The chop was a fair result as they'd been playing for 8 hours at that stage and everyone was getting tired.
We miss you guys around the seasons btw. Tell Malcolm I'll pay his scalp chip tonite if ye fancy a game (its his Newcy Relegation commiseration chip)
