Anyone able to recommend a good independent mechanic in Cork city area to do a flywheel (I think) on a 2002 Passat TDI. The car has only 45K miles on it but a lot of start stop city driving over the years. The symthoms area very loud harsh noise from engine while idling but goes away if you drive the car normally. The vibration is felt through the clutch pedal when you press it. Also the timing belt has never been changed and maybe this should be done as well??
Need to get these jobs done properly. Who in Cork would you recommend for these jobs?

I am the OP here and just to let you know the fella that did the job for me was excellent. He was out beyond Blarney so not too far from city. I got parts from Euro Car parts for around €400 and he fitted for €250. Car still fine and has not gone again so far. We were lucky to get out of it for €650 all in compared to what some people were charged.
